Responsibilities

  • Execute the monthly close calendar by posting journals, accruals, and prepayments to ensure timely reporting.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements in IFRS and Saudi statutory compliance for regulators and shareholders.
  • Serve as primary contact for external auditors and coordinate the annual audit process.
  • Calculate and file quarterly Zakat declarations in line with ZATCA regulations.
  • Analyze production costs for refining and exploration activities with variance reporting.
  • Design and monitor internal controls over financial reporting to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register for mining equipment and plant infrastructure, including depreciation.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff to enhance accuracy and professional development.

Role Overview

Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Specialist in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to lead the preparation of accurate and compliant financial statements for our integrated mining and refining operations. This role ensures adherence to IFRS and local statutory requirements while managing the complexities of precious metal inventory valuation and cost accounting. The specialist will play a critical part in maintaining financial integrity across our exploration, processing, and bullion production activities.

The Senior Financial Reporting Specialist will report directly to the Finance Manager and will play a key role in streamlining the monthly close process and enhancing internal controls. This position requires a disciplined professional who can collaborate with operations and laboratory teams to translate technical data into precise financial records.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Reporting Specialist will be responsible for the following key areas:

Monthly Financial Close

The role executes the monthly close calendar by posting all necessary journals, accruals, and prepayments to ensure timely financial reporting.

Statutory Reporting

This position prepares consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Saudi statutory requirements for submission to regulators and shareholders.

The specialist reconciles physical gold inventories including dore and bullion with system records by integrating assay and weight data from the laboratory.

Audit Management

The role serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors, facilitating the annual audit process and addressing all queries promptly.

Tax and Zakat Compliance

This position calculates and files quarterly Zakat declarations in accordance with ZATCA regulations, ensuring full compliance with Saudi tax laws.

Cost Accounting Analysis

The specialist analyzes production costs for refining and exploration activities, providing detailed variance reports to support management decision‑making.

Internal Controls

The role designs and monitors internal controls over financial reporting to mitigate risks and ensure the accuracy of financial data.

Fixed Asset Management

This position maintains the fixed asset register for mining equipment and plant infrastructure, ensuring accurate depreciation and impairment testing.

The specialist identifies opportunities to improve financial systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and data integrity across the finance function.
