Job summary

Atkins Realis Group seeks an Environment & Sustainability Expert to oversee EMS and regulatory compliance for metro O&M activities. You will drive sustainability initiatives, manage permits and reporting, and align operations with ESG goals.

You will monitor KPIs on energy, emissions, and waste, support decarbonization efforts, and collaborate across HSE, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to ensure safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field.
• 3–5 years of metro/rail or large infrastructure O&M experience with environmental compliance.
• Experience with ISO 14001 and ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, TCFD).

Responsibilities

• Manage EMS and environmental compliance for OMC operations.
• Oversee permits, licenses, and reporting requirements.
• Lead environmental inspections, audits, and assessments.
• Drive sustainability and ESG initiatives across O&M activities.
• Monitor KPIs on energy, emissions, and waste; prepare reports.

Job Description Overview

The Environment amp Sustainability Expert is responsible for the Management and oversite of the Operations and Maintenance Contractors OMC Environmental Management System ensuring environmental compliance and driving sustainability initiatives across metro operations and maintenance activities The role supports safe efficient and environmentally responsible operations aligned with regulatory contractual and ESG requirements

Your role

Environmental Compliance Management and oversite of the OMC compliance with environmental laws regulations and contractual obligations Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems EMS in line with ISO 14001 Manage environmental permits licenses and reporting requirements Conduct environmental inspections audits and compliance assessments Sustainability amp ESG Initiatives Oversee the development and implementation of sustainability strategies for O amp M operations Support initiatives related to Energy efficiency and conservation Water management Waste reduction and recycling Support decarbonization and carbon reduction targets Promote sustainable practices across metro operations Monitoring amp Reporting Track environmental KPIs energy emissions waste water usage Prepare environmental and sustainability reports for client and stakeholders Support ESG disclosures aligned with frameworks such as GRI or similar Maintain environmental data systems and dashboards Review OMC documentation relating to environmental issues Operational Environmental Management Ensure environmental controls during maintenance and operational activities Oversee Hazardous material handling and disposal Spill prevention and response Noise vibration and air quality management Supervise depot station and track maintenance teams on environmental compliance Risk amp Incident Management Identify environmental risks and recommend mitigation measures Investigate environmental incidents and support the implementation of corrective actions Develop and maintain environmental emergency response plans Stakeholder Engagement Liaise with environmental authorities regulators and external stakeholders Support client sustainability objectives and reporting needs Collaborate with internal teams HSE Operations Engineering Maintenance Training amp Awareness Conduct environmental training and awareness programs Promote sustainability culture across workforce and contractors

Education

Bachelor s, Master s degree, or relevant demonstratable experience in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field.

Experience

3-5 years of relevant experience. 3-5 years in metro, rail, or large infrastructure O&M projects. Proven experience in environmental compliance and sustainability programs.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, TCFD, etc.). Carbon footprinting and sustainability metrics. Data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI preferred).
