Job summary

HanmiGlobal is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to join our PMCM team in Saudi Arabia. You will provide program-level drainage expertise and governance for a mega land and infrastructure development program in Riyadh for a major government entity.

The role focuses on reviewing designs, ensuring stormwater and flood mitigation are integrated with roads and utilities, and supporting engineering assurance through technical reviews and risk analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or drainage engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered membership or equivalent accreditation.
• 15+ years of drainage/ stormwater experience on major projects.

Responsibilities

• Review drainage reports, hydrology studies, and design calculations for compliance with standards and client objectives.
• Evaluate drainage systems for functionality, capacity, and lifecycle performance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure integration with roads, utilities, and other infrastructure.
• Provide technical recommendations and support risk mitigation through reviews and VE proposals.

Job Purpose

HanmiGlobal is seeking a highly qualified Senior Drainage Engineer to join our program management and PMCM team in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will deliver program-level drainage engineering expertise and technical governance for a mega multi-work package land and infrastructure development program in Riyadh, delivered on behalf of a major government entity. You will be providing program-level technical expertise, engineering assurance, and collaborative oversight for reviewing and monitoring all drainage designs across the program, ensuring all stormwater management systems, hydraulic structures, and flood mitigation measures are fully integrated and compliant with approved design standards, environmental regulations, and operational needs under the direction of the Technical Manager, while supporting the successful delivery of the overall development program.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess drainage engineering reports, hydrology and hydraulic studies, design calculations, drawings, specifications, modelling outputs, and technical submissions to ensure compliance with approved standards, the Client's requirements, and project objectives
• Evaluate drainage systems for functionality, resilience, hydraulic capacity, constructability, maintainability, sustainability, operational performance, and lifecycle requirements
• Review stormwater management systems, drainage networks, culverts, channels, detention and retention facilities, pumping stations, and flood mitigation infrastructure
• Assess the integration of drainage infrastructure with roads, utilities, irrigation systems, public realm, transportation networks, and overall development infrastructure
• Evaluate flood risk assessments, hydraulic modelling, climate resilience strategies, and long-term stormwater management solutions
• Support technical governance and engineering assurance by reviewing technical compliance, engineering deviations, design modifications, and Value Engineering proposals
• Assess the impacts of design changes on flood protection, resilience, sustainability, cost, schedule, quality, maintainability, and lifecycle performance
• Provide technical recommendations to support informed engineering decisions and effective risk mitigation
• Coordinate with Lead Developers, consultants, contractors, utility providers, environmental authorities, and regulatory agencies regarding drainage engineering matters, approvals, and technical compliance
• Prepare technical assessments, engineering review comments, executive summaries, and recommendations for the Technical Manager, PMCM Management, and the Client
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, technical workshops, coordination meetings, and stakeholder engagement sessions while promoting continuous improvement and engineering best practices

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Drainage Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related discipline
• Chartered Professional membership or equivalent professional accreditation
• Minimum fifteen (15) years of professional experience in drainage engineering, stormwater management, flood mitigation, water resources infrastructure, urban development, or major capital projects
• Experience within PMCM, PMC, consultancy, developer, contractor, utility organizations, or client-side organizations, preferably on major infrastructure and land development programs in Saudi Arabia or the GCC
