Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Senior Cost Control Engineer in Riyadh to lead cost management for roads, tunnels, highways, and bridges. The candidate will oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control within a consulting environment and mentor junior staff.

Requires 15+ years in cost control and project management for infrastructure, with strong English communication and PM software proficiency. Saudi work location with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (PMP, CCE) a plus.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in cost control and project management for infrastructure.
• Proven track record on large-scale infrastructure projects; Middle East experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Experience in site supervision/consulting environment; proficient with Primavera, MS Project.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cost Control Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient cost management and control across various infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, highways, and tunnels. This position demands a deep understanding of project cost dynamics, coupled with extensive site supervision experience in a consulting capacity.

Responsibilities

• Cost Management: Oversee all aspects of project cost management, including budget estimation, cost forecasting, and expenditure tracking.
• Budgeting: Develop comprehensive project budgets based on detailed analysis and understanding of project scope, specifications, and requirements.
• Cost Control: Implement robust cost control mechanisms to monitor project expenditures, identify variances, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, cost analysis, and variance reports for project stakeholders and management.
• Contract Management: Collaborate with project teams to review contracts, change orders, and other contractual documents to ensure alignment with project cost objectives.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks and cost implications associated with project activities, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize financial impacts.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to address cost-related issues and ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, policies, and procedures related to cost management and control activities.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost control processes, tools, and methodologies, based on industry best practices and lessons learned.
• Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the cost control team, fostering their professional development and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCE) is a plus.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in cost control and project management, with a focus on infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, highways, tunnels).
• Proven track record of successful cost management and control on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the Middle East region.
• Strong technical knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis methodologies.
• Extensive experience in site supervision and construction management within a consulting environment.
• Proficiency in project management software tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project) and cost control systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Fluency in English is required, Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
