What you will do as Senior Architect (MCF/ Data Centres)

You are an engaged Architect or Architectural Engineer with a strong interest in complex projects. Within the Industry & Buildings business line, Haskoning serves a broad international market, with a strong focus on mission critical facilities, primarily data centres.

Projects typically range from building technical inspections and all phases of design and engineering to coordination during construction on site. These projects are highly dynamic and require you to work confidently in complex, fast-paced environments, with a strong focus on quality, detailing and regulatory compliance.

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate with engineers from all design disciplines (architecture, mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, building physics and fire safety) and act as a direct point of contact for the client;
  • Lead and coordinate teams of modellers and engineers in producing drawings, reports and technical specifications across all design phases;
  • Review and safeguard the quality of architectural and building engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with design intent and regulations;
  • Share and embed building engineering expertise within the team, contributing to knowledge development and consistency;
  • Proactively propose design optimisations and improvements, taking full responsibility for architectural and building engineering drawings and documentation.

As our new Design Manager (MCF/ Data Centres) you will become part of the team Mission Critical Facilities. Our global Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team provides a multidisciplinary package of consultancy services for our datacentre clients. We provide strategic, tactical, and operational advice to our clients, including colocation datacentres, internet service providers, and telecom companies. Our team consists of colleagues with all kinds of different expertise. For example, electrical engineering, Architecting, construction, civil, structure, building, architecture, fire safety, control engineering, and security technology. Together we use our knowledge and expertise to develop integrated designs for Data Centres.

What you bring

You combine strong leadership and communication skills with an entrepreneurial, proactive and flexible mindset. You are confident in making well-founded decisions in complex project environments and take ownership of outcomes, while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary and international teams in the KSA context. Besides, you possess the following:

  • A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, providing the technical basis required for senior-level architectural and building engineering responsibilities;
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in building engineering, including involvement in execution-phase projects, ensuring practical, buildable and risk-aware design solutions;
  • Proven experience with BIM-based projects using Revit and BIM360 (Revisto considered an advantage), essential for coordinated multidisciplinary design and efficient project delivery;
  • Strong knowledge of international and local design and construction standards, codes, regulations and industry best practices, enabling compliant, efficient and robust mechanical solutions within the KSA project context;
  • Fluency in English is required for international project communication, with Arabic language skills considered a strong advantage for effective collaboration with local stakeholders in KSA.
