Job summary

Valleysoft seeks an experienced API Connect Designer/Architect to shape enterprise API management across complex landscapes. You will define architecture, standards, and governance, partnering with architecture, engineering, cybersecurity, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, scalable APIs.

The role emphasizes REST/SOAP integration, OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect/JWT security, and governance across the API lifecycle, with heavy collaboration across enterprise stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
• 10–12 years of API management and integration architecture experience in large enterprise environments.
• Hands-on IBM API Connect experience in designing enterprise API management solutions and configuring API Gateway policies.
• Strong background designing REST APIs, working with SOAP web services, and supporting microservices integration.
• Experience connecting APIs with databases, applications, middleware, and external systems across enterprise backend integrations.
• Experience modernizing integration landscapes and exposing legacy services through modern APIs.
• Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, and XML.
• Hands-on experience implementing API security controls (authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling).
• Experience designing secure API architectures using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, TLS/SSL, and mTLS.
• Experience integrating API platforms with enterprise IAM solutions or identity providers.
• Banking or FinTech experience with API security architectures and governance.
• Hands-on enterprise API governance frameworks and reusable patterns.
• Experience governing the API lifecycle from design to retirement.
• Experience conducting formal API architecture and design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect enterprise API management solutions using IBM API Connect.
• Define scalable, secure API platform architectures.
• Govern the full API lifecycle from design to retirement.
• Establish API standards, guidelines, naming conventions, and reusable patterns.
• Design and implement API security policies (authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling).
• Configure and govern API Gateway policies and security mechanisms.
• Design API integrations with internal applications, external systems, and third-party services.
• Define API architecture patterns aligned with enterprise standards.
• Establish API governance frameworks, standards, policies, and best practices.
• Review API designs for governance and architecture compliance.
• Collaborate with enterprise and solution architects to align API solutions with broader architecture.
• Work with development, integration, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevOps teams.
• Translate business requirements into scalable API and integration architectures.
• Design security using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and related protocols.
