Job Purpose

The Sales Development Manager for the Food Category and Other Income on e-Commerce is responsible for driving sales growth within the food category and identifying additional revenue streams through partnerships, advertising, and monetization opportunities. This role focuses on developing strategies to optimize sales performance, improve customer engagement, and maximize profitability within the e-commerce platform. The Sales Development Manager works closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure the food category aligns with customer preferences and market trends while exploring innovative ways to generate additional income.

Key Accountabilities
  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the food category on the e-commerce platform, focusing on increasing market share, improving sales performance, and driving customer loyalty.
  • Revenue Generation from Other Income Streams: Identify and develop new revenue streams, such as advertising, affiliate marketing, and partnerships with suppliers, to monetize the platform and generate additional income beyond product sales.
  • Category Management: Oversee the product assortment for the food category, ensuring that products are competitively priced, aligned with customer demand, and strategically positioned to maximize sales.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the marketing, product, and operations teams to execute promotions, campaigns, and new product launches that drive sales growth within the food category.
  • Vendor & Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with food vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, exclusive deals, and promotional opportunities to enhance sales and profitability.
  • Data‑Driven Sales Optimization: Analyze sales data and customer behavior to identify trends, optimize product placement, and recommend adjustments to the sales strategy that will improve performance across the food category and other income streams.
  • Promotions & Campaign Management: Plan and execute promotional campaigns that boost sales in the food category, such as discounts, flash sales, and bundle offers, ensuring effective execution and positive ROI.
  • Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales volume, revenue, profitability, and customer retention. Report performance regularly to senior management and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Innovative Income Streams: Explore innovative business models, such as sponsored product listings, paid content, or brand partnerships, that generate additional income streams while enhancing the customer experience.
  • Customer Experience Enhancement: Ensure that the e-commerce platform delivers an exceptional customer experience within the food category, optimizing product visibility, customer satisfaction, and ease of purchase.
Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in sales development, category management, or business development within e‑commerce or retail, with a strong focus on food or FMCG categories.
  • Strong understanding of e‑commerce platforms and digital sales strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Proven track record of increasing sales and revenue in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Data‑driven decision‑making and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
