Job summary

Bank of Jordan in Riyadh is seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional to support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the risk management framework at the branch. You will identify, assess, monitor, and report risks while maintaining the risk register and coordinating with audits.

The role requires 4+ years in Operational Risk within banking, knowledge of SAMA Basel standards, and English proficiency. Certifications in risk management are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 4+ years of Operational Risk experience in banking/financial sector.
  • Knowledge of SAMA regulations and Basel requirements.
  • Certifications in Risk Management preferred (e.g., CORM, CORP).
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Operational Risk Management Framework in line with Bank policies, SAMA regulations, and Basel standards.
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and report operational risks across the Branch while maintaining the Operational Risk Register.
  • Conduct RCSA and evaluate effectiveness of internal controls, identifying gaps and improvements.
  • Monitor KRIs, operational incidents, and loss events; perform root cause analysis and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Review new products, services, projects, and major business changes from an operational risk perspective.
  • Prepare operational risk reports, recommendations, and management updates.
  • Follow up on Internal Audit, External Audit, and regulatory observations to ensure timely actions.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and impact of SAMA/Basel requirements on the Branch.
  • Support Operational Risk stress testing, scenario analysis, BCM, and Disaster Recovery initiatives.
  • Contribute to development and update of Operational Risk policies and training to promote risk awareness across units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, identifying control gaps and recommending improvements.

  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), operational incidents, and loss events, perform root cause analysis, and follow up on corrective actions.

  • Review new products, services, projects, and major business changes from an operational risk perspective.

  • Prepare operational risk reports, recommendations, and management updates.

  • Follow up on Internal Audit, External Audit, and regulatory observations to ensure timely implementation of agreed actions.

  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess the impact of new SAMA and Basel requirements on the Branch.

  • Support Operational Risk stress testing, scenario analysis, Business Continuity Management (BCM), and Disaster Recovery initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development and update of Operational Risk policies and procedures, provide risk advisory support to business units, and promote risk awareness through training and guidance.



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Operational Risk within the banking or financial sector.

  • Good knowledge of Operational Risk principles, SAMA regulations, and Basel requirements.

  • Professional certifications in Risk Management (e.g., CORM, CORP, or equivalent) are preferred.

  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.

  • Good command of English (written and spoken).

  • Ability to work under pressure and collaborate effectively across departments.
