Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Resident Engineer to represent the consultant on site in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. You will oversee transportation, roadway, and utility infrastructure works, ensuring adherence to contracts, drawings, standards, and schedules.

The role requires extensive on-site leadership, coordination with client/contractor/consultant teams, and a strong track record in KSA infrastructure projects. Fluency in English is essential; Arabic is a plus.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of post-graduate experience in infrastructure projects.
• 8+ years as Resident Engineer on major infrastructure projects.
• Mandatory experience in Saudi Arabia (KSA).
• Experience with engineering consultancy in site supervision.
• Strong leadership and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site supervision team for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Act as primary on-site contact between Client, Contractor and Consultant.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specs, standards, and schedule.
• Oversee QA/QC processes throughout project execution.
• Review contractor submissions including method statements and work programmes.
• Monitor progress, assess risks, delays, and challenges on site.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review, validate, and certify contractor progress reports and payments.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Chair site meetings and prepare project status reports for stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership to site supervision personnel.
• Support delivery of roads, highways, utilities, drainage and related works.

Job Description

As Resident Engineer, you will act as the Consultant's lead representative on site, overseeing construction activities and ensuring that all works are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, quality standards, approved specifications, and project schedules.

The successful candidate will possess extensive experience supervising transportation, roadway, and utility infrastructure projects within Saudi Arabia and will have worked for engineering consultancy organizations in site supervision capacities. This position is not suitable for candidates whose experience is predominantly in building projects, contractor organizations, design office functions, or head office-based engineering roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site supervision team for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the Client, Contractor, and Consultant team on site.
• Monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, standards, and contractual requirements.
• Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes throughout project execution.
• Review and provide recommendations on contractor submissions, including method statements, material approvals, and work programmes.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential risks, delays, and construction challenges.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review, validate, and certify contractor progress reports and payment applications.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Chair site meetings and prepare project status reports for clients and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to site supervision personnel.
• Support the successful delivery of transportation corridors, roads, highways, utility networks, drainage, and associated infrastructure works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of post-graduate experience in infrastructure projects.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a Resident Engineer capacity on major infrastructure projects.
• Mandatory experience within Saudi Arabia (KSA).
• Proven experience with engineering consultancy organizations in a site supervision environment.
• Demonstrated experience supervising transportation, highways, roads, utilities, drainage, and associated civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction supervision procedures, contract administration, and quality management systems.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and infrastructure delivery frameworks.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and reporting skills.
• Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
