Job summary

Ubuntu Security Engineer role based in Saudi Arabia, joining a globally distributed security team focused on protecting open source software across the Ubuntu ecosystem.

The role blends security engineering with software development, code auditing, vulnerability research, and security tooling. You will collaborate with upstream developers, internal teams, and the wider open source community to deliver robust patches and improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of common software security vulnerabilities and exploit techniques.
• Experience with coordinated vulnerability disclosure and responsible security communication.
• Familiarity with open source development tools and workflows.
• Proficiency in at least one language (C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript).

Responsibilities

• Analyse and fix vulnerabilities in Ubuntu ecosystem.
• Monitor vulnerabilities from discovery to patch release.
• Collaborate with internal teams and open source community on patches.
• Audit source code to identify weaknesses and remediation opportunities.
• Develop features, automation, and internal tools for security.
• Document findings and remediation steps clearly.
