Job summary

KBR, Inc in Saudi Arabia is seeking a highly experienced Reliability Engineer to lead asset criticality assessments for refinery assets and to implement robust reliability programs across the asset lifecycle.

The role focuses on data collection, workshops, SAP data handling, RCA/ACA facilitation, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to improve asset availability and safety-critical equipment health.

Strong leadership, communication, and proven track record in oil/gas are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or relevant engineering.
  • Site reliability background with refinery process knowledge.
  • Training in root cause failure analysis methodologies (e.g., Apollo RCA) and facilitation of RCA/ACA.
  • Knowledge of SIS and RBI is a plus.
  • 10+ years in Oil/Gas/Petrochemical industries.
  • Experience with static and rotating equipment, instruments and electrical systems and their failure modes.
  • Experience in asset lifecycle management, SAP BOM, SAP-PMs.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • To prepare framework and methodology for criticality assessment and Reliability improvement program of refinery assets.
  • To lead and perform Asset Criticality Analysis for all the refinery assets.
  • To collect all data for criticality assessment, lead/conduct Asset Criticality assessment workshops, compile workshop findings in suitable reports and populate the data in required format for uploading in SAP with supporting documents.
  • Champion the implementation of various reliability methodologies for all asset types by establishing reliability programs to sustain operational excellence.
  • Shall lead the team as the focal point of contact for reviews and technical matters related to reliability culture development in projects and operating facilities with guidance to safeguard the asset reliability throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Shall administer and perform the Asset Lifecycle management procedures such as Asset criticality ranking, SAP Taxonomy, Asset Operating Limits (IOW), Asset maintenance development procedures, and Master data developments in SAP, Bill of Materials (BOM) in SAP, active SAP-PMs implementation and effectiveness.
  • Shall initiate and conduct essential studies for facilities and operational asset improvements, while providing specialized technical service in relevant engineering disciplines, acts as a consultant on complex engineering problems, designs, and/or projects, coordinates with plant-wide teams.
  • Responsible to adapt lessons learned from benchmark and safety cases identified from events, providing recommendations – in consultation with management to provide continuous assurance methodology is applied to sustain the health of Safety-Critical Equipment’s concerning Total Reliability program are sufficient to mitigate any potential threats arising from changes in major hazard scenarios.
  • Shall work with multidisciplinary teams assigned to analyse specific integrity and performance analysis, and suggest methods for the prevention of chronic failures.
  • Support to review the Total Reliability program KPIs.
  • Shall report to Project Manager and lead the Reliability section to deliver the periodic outcomes and weekly/fortnightly report on project progress.
  • Work closely with the project execution team to ensure his complete familiarization and commitment with the Reliability Transformation Program, which will be a key factor for the success of this Reliability Transformation Project.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or relevant engineering with sound fundamentals and technical skills in his discipline is required.
  • The candidate shall have site Reliability background and strong knowledge in Refinery Processes.
  • The candidate shall have training in root cause failure analysis methodology e.g. Apollo Root Cause Analysis by Reality Charting or similar methodology, also should be able to facilitate RCA and ACA process.
  • Knowledge of SIS and RBI will be added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years’ of relevant Experience in Oil / Gas / petrochemical industry.
  • Experience in static and Rotating equipment, instrument and electrical system and understanding their failure modes and potential solutions is desirable.
  • Experience with operations, maintenance, pre-commissioning, commissioning and Hand-over activities is an advantage.
  • Shall be well aware of all the key performance indicators related to reliability of plant operation and be able to support and drive those KPI’s.
  • Experience in administering the Asset Lifecycle management procedures such as Asset criticality ranking, SAP Taxonomy, Asset Operating Limits (IOW), Asset maintenance development procedures, and Master data developments in SAP, Bill of Materials (BOM) in SAP, active SAP-PMs Implementation and effectiveness.
