Job summary

• 3–4 years’ experience in HVAC coil manufacturing, heat exchanger production, or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of brazing inspections, fin press operations, tube expansion, and leak testing.

Responsibilities

• Inspect HVAC coils during production from brazing to leak testing and verify dimensions, tube geometry, fin spacing, U-bend quality, and header connections.
• Conduct pressure and leak tests, check coil cleanliness, coating thickness (if coated), and proper labeling before dispatch.
• Maintain inspection sheets, calibration records, test reports, and NCRs; prepare daily QC reports for QA and production.
• Ensure compliance with ARI/ASHRAE standards and internal quality guidelines; participate in audits and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and QA to address defects and drive process improvements.

Job description

Job Purpose

The HVAC Inspector is responsible for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the quality of HVAC coils (evaporator, condenser, and custom coils) during and after manufacturing. The role ensures full compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements. The inspector monitors production processes, identifies defects, and ensures that only high-quality coils are delivered.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coil Inspection & Quality Assurance

• Inspect HVAC coils (copper, aluminum, fin & tube coils) during various stages of production—brazing, expansion, fin press, assembly, and leak testing.
• Verify coil dimensions, tube geometry, fin spacing, U-bend quality, header connections, brazing quality, and overall build accuracy.
• Conduct pressure testing, leak testing (nitrogen test), and ensure coils meet required pressure ratings.
• Check coil cleanliness, coating thickness (if coated), and proper label/tagging before dispatch.

2. Process Monitoring

• Ensure all manufacturing steps follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor brazing temperature, fin density, tube insertion quality, and hydraulic expansion parameters.
• Report any deviation in raw materials such as tubes, fins, headers, or chemicals.

3. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain inspection sheets, calibration records, test reports, and NCR (Non-Conformance Report).
• Prepare daily QC reports and share with production and Quality Manager.
• Ensure traceability of materials and components used in coil manufacturing.

4. Compliance & Standards

• Ensure compliance with ARI/ASHRAE standards for coil performance and durability.
• Verify adherence to internal quality guidelines and customer quality requirements.
• Participate in audits (internal/external) and assist in corrective/preventive actions.

5. Coordination & Continuous Improvement

• Work with production, engineering, and QA teams to address defects and improve coil quality.
• Recommend process improvements to reduce defects and increase production efficiency.
• Ensure all coils are properly packed and protected as per quality standards.
