Job summary

Samsung E&A in Saudi Arabia seeks aSenior QA/QC Inspector to lead inspection activities for the Tank discipline on the Fadhili Gas Increment Program. You will establish ITPs, review MARs, and coordinate with client and subcontractors to ensure compliance with API, ASTM, and international codes.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, API 653/510, Aramco experience, 5 years total with 3 in inspection, and hands-on knowledge of tank fabrication, testing, and nonconformance handling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
  • API 653 and API 510 certifications are required or preferred.
  • Aramco experience is a must and SAP experience is a plus.
  • Overall experience around 5 years with 3 years in inspection and 2 years in contract management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inspection of Mechanical (Tank) discipline.
  • Generate RFIs for client review and coordinate hold, witness and inspection points.
  • Review ITPs, MARs, and related quality documents from subcontractors.
  • Prepare and review inspection reports and control NCRs to ensure timely closure.
  • Coordinate inspections with client and supervise QC activities in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Inspect incoming materials and ensure compliance with approved submittals.

Job Description

General Characteristics (Job Summary)

  • Perform quality activities in accordance with quality management system established.
  • Establish inspection and test plans and its record forms as per project requirements and international codes and standards.
  • Carry out inspections on discipline responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements, and recording its result.
  • Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Managing and performing inspection of Mechanical (Tank) discipline.
  • Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
  • Prepare / Review the following Quality procedure documents submitted by the Subcontractors such are Inspection Test Plan (ITP), Material Approval Request (MAR).
  • Prepare / Review / Approve the related inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
  • Controlling inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
  • Setting and applying practical inspection process of particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes (providing ITP and managing Matrix).
  • Control NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) to be closed out within the due date and supporting to prepare Corrective Action Plan properly.
  • Performing and coordinating inspection with client.
  • Carry out QC Supervisor’s responsibility in their absence.
  • Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
  • Review and track material submittals required for Mechanical (Tank) Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
  • Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors related to Mechanical (Tank) Definable Features of Work.
  • Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
  • Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.
  • Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
  • Inspection coordination of Fabrication and Erection of Tank, including stage wise Inspection of the Storage Tanks.
  • Witness and inspect testing of Tank after completion of final erection.
Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • Certified by API (API 653 and API 510)

Experience

  • Aramco experience us a must, if you have SAP No. and pass the CBT, please mention it in your CV.
  • Overall experience of 5 years with 3 years in Inspection-speciality or field and 2 years in managing the contract scope of work.
  • Have direct work experience and thorough knowledge of static and rotating mechanical equipment, commodities, materials construction, Pre-Commissioning and quality activities required for the work.

Knowledge

  • Technical knowledge and familiarity with related international codes and standards in particular discipline.
  • Able to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
  • Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figuring out solutions.
  • Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale project (0.5~1.5 billion dollar).
  • Should possess thorough knowledge of work-related engineering codes and standards, such as ASTM, API, IEC, NEMA, UL, FM, NFPA, ASME BPVC (Sections I, V, VIII and IX); ANSI/ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 and B73; NACE SPs, API 620, API 650 and AWS D1.1.
  • Should possess thorough knowledge of mechanical process systems inspection and testing; procedures, tools and test equipment used in receiving, storage, fabrication, erection, construction and Pre-Commissioning of steam and combustion turbines, diesel engines, pumps, compressors, motors and generators, mixers and agitators, fans, gearboxes, firewater pumps and motors, auxiliary cooling and lubrication systems, packaged process equipment, pipe, pipe fittings, valves, pressure vessels, fired heaters, tanks, structural steel, hot/cold insulation and other equipment and commodities as required for the work.
  • Application of Tank engineering principles and practices.
  • Design and construction of storage tanks.
  • Implementing Tank codes and standards (e.g. API 650, API 653).
  • Understanding of tank drawings and specifications.
  • Quality control and inspection techniques for tank systems.
