Job summary

SAMSUNG E&A is seeking a QA/QC Inspector to perform quality activities for piping discipline in a major EPC project in Saudi Arabia. You will establish inspection plans, carry out inspections, evaluate NCRs, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities include reviewing ITPs/MARs, managing inspection reports, and ensuring material qualification and hydro testing procedures are followed in accordance with international codes and

Qualifications

• Diploma in engineering and piping-related certification.
• Experience inspecting piping disciplines on EPC projects.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3/31.4/31.8, API 570, AWS D1.1.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality activities in accordance with the quality management system.
• Establish and review inspection/test plans per project requirements and codes.
• Inspect piping discipline and verify conformity to quality requirements and records.
• Generate and manage RFI for inspections as needed.
• Review ITP/MAR and related QA/QC documents from subcontractors.
• Coordinate inspections with client and internal teams.
• Close out NCRs by due date and implement corrective actions.
• Review material submittals for Piping FOW and perform pre-inspections.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors.
• Inspect incoming materials and reject nonconforming items.
• Review Test Packages, hydro tests, and line walks.
• Maintain inspection matrices and monitor RT backlog.

Job Description

General Characteristics (Job Summary)

• Perform quality activities in accordance with quality management system established.
• Establish inspection and test plans and its record forms as per project requirements and international codes and standards.
• Carry out inspections on discipline responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements, and recording its result.
• Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Managing and performing inspection of Piping discipline.
• Generate client Requests for Inspection (RFI) where required providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Prepare / Review the following Quality procedure documents submitted by the Subcontractors such are Inspection Test Plan (ITP), Material Approval Request (MAR).
• Prepare / Review / Approve the related inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
• Controlling inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
• Setting and applying practical inspection process of particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes (providing ITP and managing Matrix).
• Control NCRs to be closed out within the due date and supporting to prepare Corrective Action Plan properly.
• Performing and coordinating inspection with client.
• Carry out QC Supervisor’s responsibility in their absence.
• Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
• Review and track material submittals required for Piping Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors related to Piping Definable Features of Work.
• Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
• Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.
• Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
• Review pre-fabricated spool release, welding history and perform inspections.
• Review and Approval of Test Packages, line walk, punch preparation and Hydro test inspection.
• Monitor RT backlog as per project requirements.
• Review or ensure of the pressure test Package and shall be familiar with the PandID.

• From project start to completion

Knowledge

• Technical knowledge and familiar with related international codes and standards in particular discipline.
• Able to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
• Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figuring out solutions.
• Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale project (0.5~1.5 billion dollar).
• Manage to anticipate inter-related discipline outcome to minimize reworks.
• Ability to use measuring and testing equipment.
• Shall have a demonstrated background and thorough knowledge of codes such as ASME B 31.3, 31.4 and 31.8, ASME, API 570, AWS D1.1, required for the execution of the WORK.
