Job summary

Samsung E&A seeks a QA/QC Inspector for piping on the Jafurah Gas Process Field Project in Saudi Arabia. You will perform quality activities, establish inspection/test plans, and record results in line with international codes and project requirements.

Responsibilities include generating RFIs, reviewing MAR/ITP, managing NCRs, and coordinating inspections with clients and subcontractors. A piping discipline certificate and strong code knowledge are required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Certificate related to piping disciplines required.
• Experience from project start to completion.
• Knowledge of international codes and standards in piping.

Responsibilities

• Manage and perform inspection of piping discipline.
• Generate RFIs with notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Prepare/review ITPs, MARs and related documents.
• Review and approve inspection reports with recording of results.
• Control inspection status using inspection matrix.
• Coordinate inspections with client and subcontractors.
• Close NCRs within due dates and support corrective actions.
• Inspect incoming material deliveries against specs and submittals.
• Review test packages, line walks, punch lists and hydro test inspections.
• Ensure lessons learned are applied and proper preventive actions.

General Characteristics (Job Summary)

• Perform quality activities in accordance with quality management system established.
• Establish inspection and test plans and its record forms as per project requirements and international codes and standards.
• Carry out inspections on discipline responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements, and recording its result.
• Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Managing and performing inspection of Piping discipline
• Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Prepare / Review the following Quality procedure documents submitted by the Subcontractors such are Inspection Test Plan (ITP), Material Approval Request (MAR).
• Prepare / Review / Approve the related inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
• Controlling inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
• Setting and applying practical inspection process of particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes (providing ITP and managing Matrix).
• Control NCRs to be closed out within the due date and supporting to prepare Corrective Action Plan properly.
• Performing and coordinating inspection with client.
• Carry out QC Supervisor’s responsibility in their absence.
• Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
• Review and track material submittals required for Piping Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors related to Piping Definable Features of Work.
• Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
• Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.
• Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
• Review pre-fabricated spool release, welding history and perform inspections.
• Review and Approval of Test Packages, line walk, punch preparation and Hydro test inspection.
• Monitor RT backlog as per project requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum education level

• Certificate related to Piping disciplines.

Experience

• From project start to completion.

Knowledge

• Technical knowledge and familiar with related international codes and standards in particular discipline.
• Able to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
• Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figuring out solutions.
• Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale project (0.5~1.5 billion dollar).
• Manage to anticipate inter-related discipline outcome to minimize reworks.
• Ability to use measuring and testing equipment.
