Job summary

DAR AL OMRAN in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeks an experienced QA/QC Engineer to lead quality assurance and quality control on large-scale development projects. You will implement QA/QC plans, review drawings and specifications, and coordinate with consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with SBC and project standards.

The role requires a minimum of 12 years’ experience in QA/QC within construction, with strong documentation, inspection, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12+ years in QA/QC for large construction projects.
  • Experience with ITPs, NCRs, MIRs and quality plans.
  • Knowledge of SBC and international standards is preferred.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented QA/QC Engineer to join our project team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in quality assurance and quality control within large-scale construction and development projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring project quality procedures, conducting inspections, reviewing technical documentation, and ensuring that construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and project quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor the project Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Plan in accordance with project requirements and approved procedures.
  • Ensure that construction activities are executed in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and applicable standards.
  • Conduct and coordinate inspections of construction works and verify compliance with approved requirements.
  • Review and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, Material Submittals, Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), and Work Inspection Requests (WIRs).
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Identify, document, and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure that corrective and preventive actions are properly implemented.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits to identify deficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Review material testing and laboratory reports to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Monitor the quality of workmanship, materials, installation, and construction processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, test results, approvals, NCRs, corrective actions, and quality documentation.
  • Participate in technical meetings, quality meetings, inspections, and coordination meetings.
  • Support the review of shop drawings, technical submittals, RFIs, and design changes from a quality compliance perspective.
  • Monitor contractor quality performance and provide recommendations for improvement where required.
  • Ensure that quality issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner to avoid impact on project progress and cost.
  • Prepare periodic QA/QC reports, quality dashboards, inspection summaries, and performance reports for project management.
  • Support internal and external quality audits and ensure project documentation is maintained in an audit-ready condition.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Saudi Building Code (SBC), Saudi regulations, project specifications, and relevant international quality standards.
  • Support project handover activities by ensuring that quality records, inspection documentation, testing certificates, and close-out documentation are complete.
  • Perform any other QA/QC-related duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant professional experience in QA/QC within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience in large-scale mixed-use development projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience in major residential, commercial, hospitality, infrastructure, or integrated development projects is an advantage.
  • Current experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is required/preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction quality management systems and inspection procedures.
Preferred Certifications
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor certification.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent.
  • Relevant QA/QC or quality management certifications.
  • Membership with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is preferred.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures and construction quality management systems.
  • Excellent understanding of ITPs, Method Statements, MIRs, WIRs, NCRs, and Quality Plans.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, and inspection requirements.
  • Good knowledge of applicable Saudi and international codes and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant project/document management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and under demanding project conditions.
