Job summary

Power International Holding (PIH) in Saudi Arabia seeks a Planning Engineer to implement and monitor design and construction planning processes, coordinate between construction and design stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery of design to construction activities.

The role requires leading a small planning team, maintaining schedules, and producing forecasts and monthly reports while aligning with HSE and IMS policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of working experience; GCC experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of planning practices and software (Primavera P6, ERP SAP).
• Ability to analyse schedules, resources, and costs; coordinate with managers and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Provide project planning/scheduling support and manage small team of planners.
• Manage project schedules in line with WBS and ensure schedules are developed.
• Ensure plans are updated for effective monitoring, forecasting and control.
• Produce pre-design to completion scheduling to depict project requirements.
• Analyze project requirements, prepare resource and cost loaded schedules.
• Produce resource histograms for manpower, materials and submittals.
• Evaluate progress and forecasts from status reports.
• Coordinate with project managers to update detailed works program.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and authorities on planning interfaces.
• Prepare what-if analyses with the Project Director/Manager.
• Review subcontractor schedules and align with contract schedules.
• Prepare progress monitoring for monthly client reports and management reviews.
• Participate in progress and coordination meetings; support HSE initiatives.

The Planning Engineer implements and monitors engineering design stages planning processes, reviews and monitors consultant design plans and authorities approval to ensure that there is no clash between construction and design plans, efficient delivery of the design engineering to maintain construction plans progress without delay. Monitors procurement process to ensure of material deliverable on site as per construction plans. Coordinates between constructions need and consultants to deliver all required for construction on time

Job Responsibilities 1

Provide project planning/scheduling support and manage small team of planners.

Manage the project schedules in accordance with the project work breakdown structure and ensuring the project that project schedules are developed.

Ensure that project plans are regularly updated and within levels certainty to allow effective monitoring forecasting and control.

Produce pre-design, design, tender and award, procurement, construction, and completion scheduling in order to depict the project and contractual requirements in compliance to the planning procedures.

Analyze project requirements, preparation of resource and cost loaded planning schedules

Produce resource histograms for manpower, material and submittals.

Evaluate and analyze the progress through updated status reports in various formats based on the contract schedule in order to provide performance assessment and accurate forecasts.

Coordinate and liaise with project managers to update the detailed works program

Coordinate and liaise with subcontractors and authorities in relation to planning and programming matters for the various interfaces that exist on the project

Liaise with the Project Director/Manager on the different scenarios to be simulated in the schedule Prepare What if Analysis

Review and evaluate the subcontractor's schedules and reports and recommend necessary actions in order to align the subcontracted items in schedule to the contract schedule.

Prepare the progress monitoring portion of the monthly report including the monthly schedule updates in order to incorporate in the monthly progress report submittal to the client and the management

Participate in the progress and coordination meetings in order to discuss the status of the project.

Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies

Job Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge in Engineering fundamentals

Knowledge in Principles of planning and knowledge in Principles and practices of research and date collection.

Familiarity with planning practices and the associated software such as Advance Primavera 6

Knowledge in Principles and practices of research and data collection

Familiar with local and international standards in construction

ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
