Job summary

Atkins Realis Group is seeking a Design Manager - Mechanical to lead the mechanical design function across hospitality projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with codes and standards. You will coordinate with civil, electrical, and process teams and mentor engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive experience in mechanical design, and a track record delivering large-scale hotels or resorts. PE/CEng is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10–15 years in mechanical engineering design with leadership responsibilities.
• Proven experience delivering large hospitality projects (hotels, resorts, venues).
• Strong knowledge of international codes and industry best practices.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex projects.
• Proficiency in engineering design software and tools.
• Solid understanding of HVAC, piping, utilities and mechanical packages.
• Ability to manage schedules, budgets and technical deliverables.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; mentor teams.
• PE, CEng or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design activities from concept to construction support.

The Design Manager - Mechanical is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering design function across projects ensuring technical excellence compliance with industry standards and delivery of innovative engineering solutions The role oversees multidisciplinary coordination design quality resource planning and stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle The Design Manager provides technical leadership to engineering teams while ensuring project objectives related to safety quality schedule and cost are achieved

Your role

• Lead and manage mechanical engineering design activities from concept through detailed design and construction support
• Develop and review mechanical engineering deliverables specifications calculations reports and drawings
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes standards regulations and client requirements
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including civil structural electrical instrumentation and process disciplines
• Manage design schedules resource allocation and engineering budgets to meet project milestones
• Conduct technical reviews design audits and value engineering studies to optimize project outcomes
• Provide technical guidance mentoring and performance management for mechanical engineers and designers

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's Degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, including leadership or management responsibilities.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale hospitality or leisure projects (hotels, resorts, entertainment venues).
• Strong knowledge of international engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex engineering projects.
• Proficiency in engineering design software and mechanical engineering tools.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, piping, utility systems, rotating equipment, and mechanical packages, as applicable to project requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to mentor engineering teams and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent certification is desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
