WSP in the Middle East is seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer (Airports) to join our team in Saudi Arabia. You will lead the design, retrofit, and delivery of major airport infrastructure while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with international standards.

You will mentor engineers, oversee calculations and reports, and contribute to proposals and client discussions, delivering projects within complex operational aviation environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering is required.
• 15+ years of structural engineering experience in airport/aviation projects.
• Chartered engineer status or equivalent is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of major airport and aviation projects across all stages.
• Provide technical leadership for airport terminals, concourses, and landside/airside structures.
• Manage multidisciplinary design coordination with stakeholders.
• Oversee structural calculations, reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards and quality procedures.
• Support planning, resources and programme delivery to meet objectives.
• Mentor junior and intermediate structural engineers.
• Participate in design reviews and value engineering sessions.
• Collaborate with project directors to ensure successful delivery.
• Support preparation of proposals and client presentations when required.

Job Description

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer (Airports) to join our team in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will lead the design, retrofit, and delivery of major airport and aviation infrastructure projects across the Kingdom. We are looking for a structural engineering professional with 15+ years of experience in airport terminals, aviation facilities, existing steel structure assessments and retrofits, bridge design and coordination, and the delivery of complex infrastructure projects within operational aviation environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and delivery of major airport and aviation infrastructure projects across all project stages.
• Provide technical leadership for the design of airport terminals, concourses, support facilities, landside and airside structures.
• Manage multidisciplinary design coordination and interface with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee the preparation and review of structural calculations, reports, specifications, and design documentation.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, relevant codes, international standards, and quality management procedures.
• Support project planning, resource allocation, and programme delivery to achieve project objectives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate structural engineers.
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering exercises, and technical workshops.
• Work closely with project directors and discipline leaders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support the preparation of technical proposals, bids, and client presentations where required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Master's degree preferred.
• 15+ years of structural engineering experience, with significant involvement in airport and aviation infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in the design and delivery of airport terminals, aviation facilities, and associated infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading structural engineering teams on large multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of international structural design codes and standards.
• Experience working within a leading engineering consultancy environment.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation would be advantageous.
• Middle East project experience would be beneficial.
