Job summary

Ahmed Alyami Group in Abqaiq is seeking a Lead Estimator Mechanical for full-time on-site work. You will lead the estimating process for complex construction and industrial projects, reviewing drawings and specs, quantifying materials and labor, and producing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals.

Role Description

The Lead Estimator Mechanical is a full-time, on-site role based in Abqaiq. This role is responsible for leading the mechanical estimating process for construction and industrial projects, including reviewing drawings and specifications, quantifying materials and labor, and preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals. The Lead Estimator collaborates closely with engineering, project management, procurement, and construction teams to validate scope, clarify technical requirements, and ensure alignment between estimates and project execution plans. Daily tasks include analyzing vendor and subcontractor quotations, maintaining and updating unit cost databases, identifying cost risks and value engineering opportunities, and supporting tender reviews and negotiations. The role also involves mentoring junior estimators, implementing estimating best practices, and contributing to continuous improvement of tools, templates, and workflows to support accurate and competitive bids.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical estimating expertise, including experience with quantity take-offs, cost breakdowns, and preparation of detailed mechanical bids for construction and industrial projects.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and engineering documents, with solid understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and construction methods.
• Experience using estimating and productivity software (e.g., Excel, estimating platforms, ERP systems) and maintaining cost databases and historical records.
• Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices relevant to mechanical works in construction, industrial facilities, and related sectors.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify cost drivers, risks, and value engineering opportunities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to coordinate with engineering, procurement, project management, and site teams, and to negotiate with vendors and subcontractors.
• Demonstrated leadership in mentoring or guiding junior estimators or technical staff and contributing to process and tool improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is preferred; equivalent experience in mechanical estimating will be considered.
