Job summary

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) seeks a Lab Technology Specialist - Genetics to perform and supervise diagnostic genetic testing, ensure quality assurance, and support laboratory development in line with hospital policies and international standards.

The role requires expertise in PCR, qPCR, NGS, FISH and related molecular techniques, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, documentation, and regulatory compliance across CAP, CBAHI and JCI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, genetics, molecular biology or equivalent medical laboratory sciences.
• SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed (Certifications) preferred
• Minimum 9 years experience in a licensed Medical facility/Clinical laboratory with PCR/qPCR/NGS/molecular pathology experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform various molecular testing procedures including PCR, NGS, FISH, RT-PCR, Karyotyping.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting; notify authorities or correct the issues.
• Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from specifications.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient files and logs.
• Review information to develop options and implement solutions.
• Document quality assurance and controls; enter results into LIMS.
• Maintain equipment and ensure data integrity through calibration and QC.

Job Description Summary

As Genetic Lab Specialist, he/she will be responsible for performing and supervising diagnostic genetic testing, ensuring quality assurance, supporting laboratory development, and assisting in the interpretation and reporting of genetic results in accordance with hospital policies and national/international standards.

• Perform various molecular testing procedures include but not limited to PCR, NGS, FISH, RT-PCR, Karyotyping…etc.
• Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance, or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the Molecular Genetics Consultant and/or Chief Technologist.
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from JHAH laboratory's established performance specifications.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient's files and individual logs.
• Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Documentation of quality assurance and controls, maintenance logs, results entered into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Maintains equipment and assures integrity of data by calibrating and cleaning equipment, changing parts, and running control samples through equipment for quality control.
• Complying with safety, quality control, and accreditation agencies requirements (CAP, CBAHI, JCI).

Education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, genetics, molecular biology or equivalent medical laboratory sciences.

Certifications

• SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed
• American Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC) ASCP or equivalent is preferred

Years of Experience

• Completion of a structured internship or clinical training program
• Minimum 9 years experience in a licensed Medical facility/Clinical laboratory as Lab Medical Technologist including minimum 5 years of experience in PCR, qPCR Sanger, NGS, and/or Microarray, or molecular pathology
