Parsons is looking for an accomplished Engineering Director to join our team. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and technical direction to a multidisciplinary engineering organization, bringing together the expertise, resources and capabilities required to deliver complex construction management assignments successfully.
Provide overall managerial and technical leadership for the engineering discipline, ensuring teams are appropriately structured and aligned with project requirements.
Review and approve staffing budgets, resource plans and assignment schedules across projects, including oversight of workforce forecasting and future resource requirements.
Monitor the quality, progress and performance of the discipline across each project, ensuring production and delivery requirements are consistently achieved.
Partner closely with Project Managers to identify and resolve current or anticipated challenges relating to staffing, quality, schedule performance and productivity.
Establish and maintain discipline-specific standards, procedures and technical manuals, recommending improvements that enhance consistency and operational effectiveness.
Lead the preparation of the discipline’s annual salary plan and manage salary actions within the approved framework.
Oversee the full employee lifecycle for the discipline, including recruitment, selection, development, performance management, counselling and corrective action, as required.
Ensure new employees receive an effective introduction to the organization, including its policies, procedures and performance expectations.
Support pre-contract and business development activities, providing senior technical guidance and expertise as required.
Manage the discipline’s performance against assigned overhead budgets, ensuring resources are deployed efficiently and responsibly.
Actively participate in and champion the Quality Improvement Program, promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the discipline.
Lead discipline committees and other internal forums, helping to engage, motivate and develop assigned personnel.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
20+ years of relevant professional experience, including significant leadership and managerial responsibility.
Extensive experience leading large teams of engineers, designers and technical support professionals.
Demonstrated ability to direct multidisciplinary teams delivering technically complex engineering assignments.
Strong understanding of engineering industry practices, standards and applicable regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical, project and executive stakeholders.
Comprehensive knowledge of current engineering technologies and the capabilities and efficiencies of relevant engineering software.
