Summary
The Staff Nurse , provides professional nursing care in accordance with the mission, vision and values of King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre.
Working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the nurse assesses patients, plans and delivers appropriate nursing care, monitors clinical progress and responds effectively to changes in patients’ conditions.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- The nursing degree must have been completed through classroom-based study. Online or distance-learning nursing degrees are not accepted.
- Must meet Saudi Commission for Health Specialties classification and registration requirements for Nurse Specialist.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum two years of current, full-time clinical experience following completion of the nursing qualification.
- Current experience must be in an acute-care hospital.
- Current clinical experience in Endoscopy Care.
- Current nursing experience must be from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
License:
- Current and good-standing Registered Nurse license or registration permitting practice in the candidate’s country of residence.
- Must hold current professional nursing license from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess patients before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, medications, allergies, vital signs, and required laboratory results.
- Provide pre-procedure education and explain preparation and recovery instructions to patients and families.
- Establish and maintain IV access and administer medications, IV fluids, and sedation as prescribed.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, oxygen saturation, level of consciousness, and overall condition throughout the procedure.
- Assist physicians and the endoscopy team during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Monitor patients for complications related to sedation, bleeding, perforation, or other procedure-related concerns.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in the patient’s clinical condition.
- Provide post-procedure care and monitor patients until they meet discharge or transfer criteria.
- Assess and manage pain, nausea, and other post-procedure symptoms.
- Maintain infection prevention and control practices, including appropriate handling and preparation of endoscopy equipment.
- Maintain accurate and complete nursing documentation and patient records.
- Communicate patient status and relevant clinical information to physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
- Provide clear handover to the receiving nurse or care team.
- Provide discharge instructions and educate patients on post-procedure care, warning signs, and follow-up requirements.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow established hospital policies and procedures.
