Responsibilities
- Responsible to the Engineering Support Manager to provide day-to-day advice to RSAF Officers on matters pertaining to electro-mechanical engineering for all RSAF aircraft and simulators.
- Provide a primary point of contact for all RSAF electro-mechanical engineering issues.
- Enhance RSAF engineering support capability with regards to aircraft and simulators electro-mechanical engineering.
- Create original designs for changes to existing systems to improve reliability, maintainability or performance; perform integration, test and instructional tasks.
- Perform studies and participate in research, development and implementation of programmes to improve safety, reliability and maintainability; evaluate and perform cost-benefit analysis of improvement initiatives.
- Recommend improvement/upgrade programmes for RSAF aircraft and simulator electro-mechanical systems and support equipment; review and recommend RSAF authorizations of engineering modifications; progress approval of improvement initiatives through external design organizations and technical authorities.
- Investigate aircraft and simulator electro-mechanical related problems affecting fleet performance and devise innovative solutions; monitor test programs and evaluate test data to identify problems and/or verify performance.
- Participate in accident investigations; evaluate and provide recommendations on major defect and aircraft/simulator incident reports.
- Develop system testing procedures and documentation to verify performance to specification requirements; participate in the acceptance test of aircraft and simulator equipment.
- Prepare staff correspondence to organizations internal and external to the RSAF.
- Support RSAF officers at meetings and participate in design and programme management reviews.
Job Requirements
- Engineering Degree BEng (Hons) or Higher National Diploma/Certificate in Electromechanical/ Electrical/ Mechanical/ Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Master's Degree or higher and Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
- A minimum of 1 O years of experience in the field of aircraft and/or simulator electromechanical engineering and/or maintenance, including design, development, integration and test of civil and/or military aircraft and simulators.
- Experience in senior engineering management with a thorough knowledge of international regulation and policy for military and civil aviation as well as International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Strong leadership qualities with proven interpersonal and team working skills.
- Computer literate and an experienced user of the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project).
- Knowledge of aviation quality systems, airworthiness, simulation engineering, engineering and systems integration.
- Good all-round awareness of RSAF processes and procedures.
- Good all-round awareness of RSAF programmes, suppliers, government standard agencies and academic/research establishments.
