Job summary

Jones Engineering seeks an Electrical Project Engineer - Intermediate-Senior for data centre projects in the Eastern Province. You will lead electrical design from inception to detailed design, ensuring compliance with SEC/DEWA/ADDC and international standards, and coordinate with BIM and MEP interfaces.

The role requires 5+ years on construction projects, strong LV/MV knowledge, and proficiency in Amtech/ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant construction experience (Data Centre or mission-critical preferred).
• Strong LV/MV, containment, lighting control, fire alarm, BMS/EPMS, and standby power knowledge.
• Proficient in Amtech/ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Revit.
• Familiar with Middle East regulations (SEC, DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence) is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
• Thrives in a demanding, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Fully design electrical systems from inception to detailed design.
• Ensure drawings and specifications comply with local regulations and standards.
• Provide technical input to BIM during drawings and single-line diagrams.
• Perform detailed technical review of existing design drawings and calculations.
• Raise and follow up RFIs for clarifications.
• Liaise with technical director and coordinate changes from site conditions or MEP interfaces.
• Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required standards.
• Lead coordination of engineering services.
• Take a holistic view in selecting engineering concepts and solutions.
• Provide Value Engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with estimation teams during tender phases.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Coordination

• Fully design the electrical systems from client inception to detailed design (MV, LV switchgear, cabling, containment, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, BMS, etc.).
• Ensure all electrical design drawings and specifications comply with local regulations (SEC/DEWA/ADMCC/ADDC, etc.), relevant standards (BS, IEC, NFPA), and client requirements.
• Provide technical input to the BIM team during preparation of coordinated drawings and singleline diagrams for all electrical systems.
• Perform detailed technical review of existing design drawings and calculations.
• Raise and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs) for any client/consultant clarifications required.
• Liaise with the technical director and present designs and coordinate changes arising from site conditions or MEP interfaces.
• Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
• Leads on the coordination of engineering services
• Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions
• Provide Value Engineering solutions
• Liase with estimation teams during tender phases of projects.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience on construction projects (Data Centre or mission-critical experience highly preferred).
• Strong technical knowledge of LV/MV systems, containment, lighting control, fire alarm, BMS/EPMS, and standby power systems.
• Proficient in Amtech/ETAP, Dialux, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit.
• Familiar with Middle East regulations and authorities (SEC, DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence, etc.) is a strong advantage.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
