Job summary

Dar Al Riyadh Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to review and audit electrical works for dams and water facilities across Saudi Arabia. You will verify compliance with drawings, specs, and method statements, and prepare specifications, scopes, and quantities for improvement.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in electrical engineering, with strong knowledge of MV/LV systems, load calculations, and protection coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent relevant discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical loads, power distribution, communications and low-current systems.
  • Relevant experience in dams, pumping stations, water facilities or comparable infrastructure assets.
  • Sound knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience reviewing load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit levels, protection coordination and electrical designs.
  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, motor control centres, soft starters and variable-frequency drives.
  • Experience reviewing contractors’ technical submissions, installations, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Knowledge of applicable Saudi codes, electrical regulations and recognized international standards.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, control diagrams and equipment data sheets.
  • Strong technical-reporting, analytical, coordination and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Relevant experience must be supported by verifiable employment records, project references, reports or studies when requested.

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit contractors’ electrical works for dams and associated water facilities.
  • Inspect electrical installations and verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
  • Review electrical designs, calculations, drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules and technical submissions.
  • Prepare electrical technical specifications, scopes of work, bills of quantities and improvement recommendations.
  • Review electrical load calculations, demand assessments, voltage-drop calculations, short-circuit studies and cable sizing.
  • Verify compliance with applicable electrical specifications, Saudi Building Code requirements and relevant international standards.
  • Review the design, installation, testing and maintenance of medium-voltage and low-voltage systems.
  • Assess transformers, switchgear, distribution panels, motor control centres, cables, protection systems and earthing arrangements.
  • Review power supplies and motor-starting systems for pumps, gates, valves, hoists and other electromechanical equipment.
  • Review conventional, soft-starter and variable-frequency-drive systems.
  • Assess normal, standby and emergency electrical supplies, including generators, UPS systems, batteries and automatic transfer systems.
  • Review protection coordination, selectivity, grounding, lightning protection and surge-protection systems.
  • Assess low-current systems, including fire alarms, security systems, access control and CCTV where applicable.
  • Review communications, telemetry, instrumentation, SCADA and control-system interfaces.
  • Evaluate clean and renewable energy solutions where technically and commercially appropriate.
  • Review preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance plans for electrical assets.
  • Analyze equipment failures, recurring faults, power interruptions and electrical-performance trends.
  • Conduct or support root-cause analyses and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
  • Identify critical electrical assets and recommend rehabilitation, upgrade or replacement priorities.
  • Support electrical testing, inspection, commissioning, handover and return-to-service activities.
  • Review test certificates, inspection records, as-built drawings, operation manuals and maintenance documentation.
  • Monitor contractors’ performance and follow up defects, non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical input to project planning, maintenance scheduling, asset-management and risk-assessment activities.
  • Coordinate electrical activities with mechanical, hydraulic, civil, instrumentation, control, safety and operations teams.
  • Prepare technical reports for projects and O&M contracts covering power, MV/LV, clean energy, communications, low-current and pump-starting systems.
  • Prepare clear daily, weekly, monthly, annual and technical reports as required by the assignment.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attend meetings, inspections and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required.
  • Comply with Saudi laws, applicable codes, Client procedures, quality requirements and occupational health and safety obligations.
