Job summary

Advanced Petrochemical Company in Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives across our refinery and petrochemical operations. You will implement and monitor EHS systems, ensure regulatory compliance, and align with RC Environmental Guidelines and NCEC requirements to strengthen the safety culture.

Key duties include conducting site inspections and audits, leading incident investigations and RCA findings, coordinating with regulators

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an EHS role within industrial operations, petrochemical facilities, or manufacturing plants.
  • Experience in EHS compliance, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Proven experience working with contractors and operational teams in a field-based environment.
  • Certifications in NEBOSH IGC or NSC OH&S or equivalent.

Job Purpose

The EHS Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and industry best practices. The role supports operational teams by integrating EHS requirements into daily activities, strengthening the safety culture, and minimizing risks to people, assets, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
EHS Management & Implementation
  • Implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with company standards, RC Environmental Guidelines, and NCEC requirements.
  • Support operations and projects by integrating EHS requirements into work processes, risk assessments, and job plans.
  • Conduct routine workplace inspections, site audits, and compliance assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations, environmental requirements, and international EHS standards.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of Process Safety Management (PSM) elements, including:
  • Management of Change (MOC)
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders during inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Lead and participate in incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition investigations.
  • Apply Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to identify underlying causes and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Support risk assessment and hazard mitigation activities across operational areas.
  • Support environmental management programs in alignment with RC Environmental Guidelines and NCEC requirements.
  • Monitor environmental aspects including waste management, emissions, spills, and resource consumption.
  • Participate in environmental inspections, audits, reporting activities, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and report EHS statistics, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly EHS reports, dashboards, and management presentations.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve EHS performance and strengthen the organization's safety culture.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement programs and operational excellence initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an EHS role within:
  • Industrial Operations
  • Petrochemical Facilities
  • Manufacturing Plants
  • Utilities Sector
  • Experience in EHS compliance, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Proven experience working with contractors and operational teams in a field-based environment.
Required Certifications & Professional Training

One of the following certifications is required:

  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent; OR
  • Occupational Health & Safety certification from the National Safety Council (NSC) or another recognized professional body.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS management systems and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with RC Environmental Guidelines and NCEC environmental requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards.
  • Ability to develop procedures, conduct audits, and deliver EHS training programs.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting EHS data, statistics, and performance trends.
  • Effective communication, reporting, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and EHS reporting tools
