EHS ENGINEER

Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited is seeking an EHS professional to manage documentation, risk assessments and training across construction sites in Saudi Arabia. You will conduct daily site EHS inspections, ensure proper permits, and lead toolbox talks to reinforce safety culture.

The role requires coordinating with engineers and client teams, administering first aid, and maintaining EHS records in line with ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all EHS related document (EHS plan, emergency response plan, RA, etc.)
• Attend all EHS meetings with client and project team
• Report all EHS related issues to HO
• Provide EHS induction training to new workers
• Conduct daily EHS inspections for assigned zone
• Ensure appropriate safe work permits are taken by Engineers/Supervisors from Clients/Main
• Conduct risk-assessment throughout site and inform Site Engineers and/or Clients/Main
• Deliver toolbox talks weekly by engineers for workers to reinforce EHS
• Ensure all personnel are wearing personal protective equipment including helmet, EHS shoes, and coveralls
• Ensure equipment such as ladders and scaffoldings are in good working condition prior to use
• Ensure satisfactory health and hygiene conditions for workers including water, rest area, lighting & ventilation
• Maintain housekeeping on site to prevent incidents/accidents
• Conduct Job EHS Analysis on high risk activities to minimize hazardous conditions
• Encourage workers and engineers to implement EHS practices
• Conduct investigations with engineers in case of incidents/accidents
• Communicate investigation results to workers and engineers for future precautions
• Administer first-aid and/or seek medical assistance in case of worker injury
• Maintain all documentation related to EHS activities
• Establish, monitor and coordinate upgrading of the integrated health, safety & environment management system in line with ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015 and ISO 9001
• Conduct training programs on EHS topics for engineers and workers on site and in HR organized EHS training programs
• Hazard identification and risk assessment for critical activities and ensure method statements reflect findings
• Prepare EHS Plan and Environment Management Plan
• Coordinate External EHS Audits & Third Party Inspections of Equipment
• Prepare Emergency Preparedness Plan and conduct Emergency Drills
• Facilitate Implementation of Work Permit System
• Coordinate for Occupational Health & Welfare measures
• Prepare Conditions of Contract on EHS for Sub-contractors
• Stop work if unsafe practices are witnessed and promote a proactive safety attitude
• Carry out project Risk Management Audits monthly and system audits quarterly
• Provide EHS reports to project head and IC Head on current EHS performance

• Ensure equipment such as ladders and scaffoldings are in good working conditions prior to be used by workers

Water, rest area, and adequate lighting & ventilation

• Ensure satisfactory health and hygiene conditions for workers including the availability of water, rest area, and adequate lighting & ventilation

• Ensure proper housekeeping on project site to prevent incidents/accidents
• Conduct Job EHS Analysis on high risk activities to minimize hazardous conditions.
• Encourage workers and engineers to implement EHS practices
• Conduct investigations along with engineers in case of minor or major incidents/accidents

Establishing, monitoring, appraising & coordinating upgraded version of integrated health, safety & environment management system (Confirming to ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015 and ISO 9001 standards) for construction projects, improvising procedure manual and internal audits based on above standards.

Conducting training program on EHS topics for engineers & workers in site as well as in HR organized EHS training programs.

Doing Hazard identification and risk assessment for the critical activities and ensuring method statements incorporates the findings.

Preparing EHS Plan and Environment Management Plan

Coordinating External EHS Audits & Third Party Inspections of Equipment's

Preparing Emergency Preparedness Plan and Conducting Emergency Drills

Facilitating Implementation of Work Permit System

Coordinating for Occupational Health & Welfare measures.

Preparing Condition of contract on EHS for Sub-contractors.

Stop work if any unsafe practices are witnessed and promote a don't walk by and commitment to Action attitude all the time.

Carry out projects Risk Management Audit on monthly basic and system audit quarterly.

Provide EHS report to project head and IC Head to inform them the current status of EHS performance.
