Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the design, development, and engineering of fiberglass/composite products and tooling within the manufacturing environment. The Design Engineer ensures that engineering designs meet customer specifications, NOV standards, manufacturing capability, and cost-effectiveness requirements. The position supports product development, material evaluation, drafting, and design tooling and machinery optimization to enhance product performance and production efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITY & AUTHORITY:
- Develop, modify, and refine engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to support production and customer requirements.
- Create detailed 2D/3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using CAD software in compliance with NOV drafting standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and product development teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and performance.
- Review customer specifications and project requirements to ensure technical compliance and feasibility of product solutions.
- Participate in engineering change management, ensuring that revisions are controlled, communicated, and implemented properly.
- Assist in creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), design packages, and related engineering documentation.
- Support R&D initiatives, prototype development, and continuous improvement activities related to composite materials and product design.
- Prepare and present engineering reports, design reviews, timelines, and progress updates to management as required.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Flexible and able to respond quickly to multi-task assignments and shifting priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline (Essential).
- Minimum of three to five years of engineering design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to think ahead, anticipate issues, and make sound engineering decisions.
- Experience with composite materials, fiberglass structures, or polymer-based applications is a strong plus.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Essential)
- Bill of material , ability to read and design engineering packages.
