Role Context

The Consultant IVF will provide specialist reproductive medicine care for patients experiencing infertility or requiring assisted conception. The consultant will assess reproductive history, investigate possible causes of infertility, determine appropriate treatment pathways, and oversee patients throughout stimulation, retrieval, fertilization, embryo development, transfer, and follow-up. Clinical responsibilities will involve close collaboration with embryologists, obstetricians, geneticists, psychologists, nurses, laboratory professionals, and other fertility specialists. The consultant will balance clinical effectiveness with realistic counselling, ethical reproductive practice, patient safety, and individualized decision‑making throughout each treatment cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive fertility consultations covering reproductive history, previous treatment, medical conditions, investigations, and individual treatment objectives.
  • Diagnose and manage reproductive endocrinology and infertility conditions affecting fertility outcomes.
  • Develop individualized IVF and assisted reproductive treatment plans according to clinical findings and patient circumstances.
  • Manage ovarian stimulation protocols and adjust medication according to follicular response and hormonal monitoring.
  • Perform ultrasound evaluations throughout fertility treatment to assess follicular development and treatment progression.
  • Conduct transvaginal egg retrieval procedures using established reproductive medicine protocols.
  • Perform embryo transfer procedures with attention to technique, patient comfort, and clinical safety.
  • Coordinate sperm preparation and fertilization planning with experienced embryology teams.
  • Participate in treatment involving intracytoplasmic sperm injection when clinically appropriate.
  • Apply knowledge of embryo biopsy and advanced assisted reproductive technologies within approved clinical practice.
  • Review hormonal investigations, semen analysis, ultrasound findings, genetic results, and other fertility‑related diagnostic information.
  • Counsel patients regarding IVF, ICSI, embryo transfer, fertility preservation, genetic testing, and other reproductive treatment options.
  • Explain treatment success factors, procedural risks, medication effects, potential complications, and realistic expectations before treatment begins.
  • Monitor patients for complications associated with fertility treatment and provide timely clinical intervention when necessary.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, embryologists, geneticists, psychologists, nursing teams, and other specialists to provide coordinated reproductive care.
  • Guide nurses, embryologists, and junior medical staff involved in fertility treatment pathways.
  • Maintain accurate consultation notes, treatment cycle documentation, consent records, procedure details, medication plans, and follow‑up information.
  • Ensure practice complies with Saudi regulatory requirements, professional ethics, clinical governance, and reproductive medicine standards.
  • Participate in clinical audits and use treatment outcomes to identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Contribute to reproductive medicine research, professional education, case discussions, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in IVF, reproductive endocrinology, embryo technologies, fertility preservation, and assisted reproduction.
Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will hold an MD or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution together with Board Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility or an equivalent recognized specialist credential. Applicants should have at least 5 years of practical experience performing IVF and advanced reproductive procedures within an established fertility center or reproductive medicine service. Strong procedural competence in egg retrieval, embryo transfer, ovarian stimulation management, ICSI‑related treatment pathways, embryo biopsy coordination, and other advanced assisted reproductive technologies is expected. Candidates must hold or be eligible for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties licensing.
