Job summary

Dar Al Riyadh seeks a Civil Inspector for on-site oversight of civil and structural works on a high-rise hotel renovation. The role involves daily inspections, reviewing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with labs and contractors to ensure quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers registration in applicable Technician or Engineering category.
• Minimum 12 years of on-site civil/structural inspection experience.
• Proven experience in high-rise buildings, major renovations, or structural rehabilitation projects.
• Practical experience in selective demolition, concrete repair, reinforcement works, structural strengthening, and temporary propping.
• Experience inspecting CFRP systems, grout injection, repair mortars, and waterproofing works.
• Strong knowledge of concrete placement, testing, curing, repair, and quality-control procedures.
• Familiarity with the Saudi Building Code and relevant ASTM and British Standards.
• Ability to interpret civil and structural drawings, specifications, method statements, and inspection plans.
• Previous experience with engineering consultancy or construction supervision.
• Ability to prepare accurate inspection reports, site records, and photographic documentation.
• Experience coordinating with independent testing laboratories and witnessing construction-material tests.
• Arabic is an advantage; good written and spoken English required.

Responsibilities

• Witness concrete sampling, cube testing, core extraction, pull-off testing, and other tests.
• Inspect repairs, grout, mortars, CFRP bonding, and strengthening works.
• Inspect waterproofing on below-grade, roof, bathrooms, kitchens, and wet areas.
• Record materials storage, handling, and installation of approved items.
• Identify defects; report to Civil/Structural Engineer and monitor rectification.

Job description

Civil Inspector at Dar Al Riyadh in المدينة, S03, SA. This Full time on site position offers great opportunities for career growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of civil and structural works for the renovation of a high-rise, five-star hotel.
• Inspect selective demolition, temporary propping, concrete chipping, reinforcement preparation, and structural repair works.
• Review and respond to civil and structural Requests for Inspection.
• Inspect formwork, reinforcement, embedded items, concrete placement, curing, and finished concrete works.
• Verify that civil works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and the Saudi Building Code.
• Witness concrete sampling, cube testing, core extraction, pull-off testing, and other destructive and non-destructive tests.
• Inspect concrete repairs, crack injection, grout application, repair mortars, CFRP bonding, and structural strengthening works.
• Inspect below-grade, roof, bathroom, kitchen, and wet-area waterproofing.
• Verify waterproofing surface preparation, membrane installation, protection layers, and flood testing.
• Confirm that approved materials are used and properly stored, handled, and installed.
• Identify defective or non-compliant work and immediately report it to the Civil/Structural Engineer.
• Monitor corrective actions and reinspect completed rectification works.
• Coordinate inspections with contractor representatives, surveyors, and independent testing laboratories.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, photographic records, test results, and site observations.
• Record contractor manpower, equipment, work locations, progress, and site constraints.
• Assist with snagging, de-snagging, as-built verification, and final handover inspections.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers registration in the applicable Technician or Engineering category is mandatory.
• Minimum 12 years of on-site civil and structural inspection experience.
