Job summary

Mantis is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and maintenance at Basiqat Resort by Mantis, ensuring safe, efficient operations across all facilities and systems.

You will establish high engineering standards in a remote resort environment, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on leadership and a focus on sustainability and safety.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of engineering experience in hospitality, resorts, or large-scale facilities.
  • 3–5 years in a HOD / Chief Engineer role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building systems.
  • Experience in remote, resort, or pre-opening environments highly desirable.
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering operations and maintenance across the resort.
  • Ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety and water systems perform optimally.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain facilities to brand and safety standards.
  • Lead, train, and develop the engineering team; manage shifts and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and Accor engineering policies.
  • Support refurbishment, upgrade and capital expenditure projects.
  • Oversee contractor management and lifecycle planning for key assets.
  • Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Job Description

Role Overview As Chief Engineer, you will lead the engineering and maintenance function at Basiqat Resort by Mantis, ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of all resort facilities, systems, and infrastructure.

You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong engineering standards in a remote resort environment, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems operate at optimal performance. This role is both strategic and highly operational, requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and a hands-on approach.

What You’ll Do

  • Engineering Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee all maintenance and engineering operations across the resort
  • Ensure optimal performance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and water systems
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure all facilities are maintained to brand and safety standards
  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, train, and develop the engineering team
  • Schedule and allocate work effectively across shifts and priorities
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence
  • Conduct performance reviews and support team development
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and Accor engineering policies
  • Implement and monitor fire, life safety, and emergency response systems
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments across all facilities
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and compliance documentation
  • Project & Asset Management
  • Support refurbishment, upgrade, and capital expenditure projects
  • Oversee contractor management and ensure quality of outsourced work
  • Maintain lifecycle planning for key assets and equipment
  • Ensure cost-effective management of spare parts and inventory
  • Sustainability & Energy Management
  • Drive energy efficiency initiatives across the resort
  • Monitor utility consumption and identify optimisation opportunities
  • Support Mantis sustainability goals through responsible engineering practices
  • Implement environmentally conscious maintenance solutions
  • Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Work closely with Operations, Housekeeping, and Front Office teams to ensure seamless guest experience
  • Support pre-opening or ongoing operational readiness initiatives
  • Provide technical input for new installations, upgrades, and design improvements
