Job summary

Confidential is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to oversee daily accounting operations and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting. You will lead the accounting team, manage period-end closings, and support compliance with IFRS and Saudi regulations.

The role involves coordinating VAT, Zakat and related tax submissions, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving process improvements across ERP systems and reporting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (required).
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, including team supervision.
• Solid IFRS knowledge, financial reporting, GL management, period-end closing.
• Familiarity with Saudi tax and Zakat requirements and ZATCA processes.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
• SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or relevant professional qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets and related accounting activities.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closings; review journals and reconciliations; prepare financial statements.
• Supervise accounting team; assign tasks and ensure quality and deadlines.
• Review bank, customer, supplier, and intercompany reconciliations; resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate VAT, withholding tax, and Zakat/income tax submissions with internal teams and advisors.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies; safeguard assets and improve accuracy.
• Prepare audit schedules; respond to auditor requests; implement corrective actions.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with accurate data and variance analysis.
• Improve accounting workflows and ERP usage to enhance efficiency.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. You will lead the accounting team, manage period-end closing activities, maintain effective financial controls, and support compliance with applicable accounting standards and Saudi regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting Operations: Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and other accounting activities to ensure accurate and complete financial records.
• Financial Closing and Reporting: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, review journal entries and reconciliations, and prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Team Supervision: Assign responsibilities, review the accounting team's work, and provide guidance to maintain quality and meet reporting deadlines.
• Account Reconciliation: Review bank, customer, supplier, and intercompany reconciliations, where applicable, and ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly.
• Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Coordinate the preparation and review of VAT, withholding tax, and Zakat or income tax submissions, as applicable, with relevant internal teams and external advisors.
• Internal Controls: Maintain accounting policies, approval procedures, and financial controls to safeguard assets and improve transaction accuracy.
• Audit Coordination: Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor requests, and follow up on audit findings and corrective actions.
• Financial Analysis: Support budgeting and forecasting by providing accurate accounting data, expense analysis, and explanations of significant variances.
• Process Improvement: Improve accounting workflows and the use of ERP systems to strengthen efficiency and reporting reliability.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience: At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including experience supervising accounting activities or leading a team.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, general ledger management, and period-end closing.
• Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Saudi tax and Zakat requirements and related ZATCA processes.
• Systems: Proficiency in accounting or ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Professional Qualifications: SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or a relevant professional qualification is preferred.
• Core Skills: Strong analytical, leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
