Job summary

ASMO in Saudi Arabia is seeking a Category Specialist to help centralize category operations, support procurement strategies, and manage supplier relationships across energy-related categories.

You will work with the Senior Category Manager and cross-functional teams to execute category strategies, conduct supplier assessments, and assist with contract lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 7 years experience in procurement or category management.
• Experience in energy, petrochemical, chemical, or industrial sectors preferred.
• Strong English written and spoken communication.

Job description

The Category Specialist assists in the centralization of category operations and requirements to optimize procurement and sourcing operations. The role holder collaborates with the Senior Category Manager and team members to execute procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, and support efficient supply chain operations. It supports category strategy execution, cross-category initiatives, and contract lifecycle activities across the assigned category.

Description

• Identify the need to prepare RFPs as per category requirements and assist in their development; collaborate with the Senior Category Manager and the Director for review before deployment to suppliers and vendors.
• Work with the Technology function to automate procurement processes where possible, aiming to achieve economies of scale and overall operational efficiency.
• Assist in executing category strategies by focusing on supplier performance improvements and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
• Collaborate with the team to implement cross-category initiatives and projects aimed at optimizing procurement operations.
• Coordinate with sourcing specialists and tactical buyers to support the efficient execution of procurement processes, competitive sourcing practices, and timely purchase order placement.
• Liaise with commodity technical experts to execute supplier assessments based on technical specifications and quality requirements; support spend management specialists in spend analysis and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Assist in contract lifecycle management processes, including contract creation, negotiation, and compliance management, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university is required; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 7 years experience in the same field.
• Category management experience in the energy, petrochemical, chemical, or industrial sectors preferred.
• Category strategy execution, supplier assessment, and spend and contract lifecycle support.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English.
