The job holder is responsible for managing Business Development & Partnership’s activities including analyzing market needs, developing & evaluating business cases, investment opportunities, identifying and facilitating investment attraction opportunities from public and private sector, building networks with key investors / partners both domestically and internationally to foster WTCO’s development and maximize the financial gains to achieve WTCO’s
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop Business Development & Partnerships policies, procedures, and controls covering all areas of assigned Investment Attraction & Partnerships activity and provide continuous improvement recommendations.
- Develop Business Development & Partnerships strategic and operational plans, ensuring alignment with WTCO’s strategy, vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
- Develop a Business Development & Partnerships budget and ensure potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
- Fulfil ESG responsibilities and requirements in line with the strategy and ESG-related initiatives.
- Set Business Development & Partnerships KPIs and monitor progress and development towards WTCO strategic objectives.
- Identify the management needs of competencies and talents and provide recommendations with regard to human resources decisions.
- Develop all Business Development & Partnerships reports in a timely and accurate manner while ensuring meeting the requirements, policies, and quality standards.
- Delegate duties, responsibilities, and authorities to appropriate team members within the business in case of absence.
- Manage, generate, implement, and constantly evaluate commercial strategies and frameworks for designated markets to attract investors/partners.
- Lead the development in the field of investment attraction by identifying local advantages, tangible and intangible factors to attract new investors/partners both nationally and internationally.
- Identify and source potential investors/partnership opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls, emails, and investor visits.
- Direct internal investment research activities and evaluate existing and prospective investment, capital markets, and other related investment topics from quantitative and qualitative perspectives.
- Leverage market research/analysis generated to develop recommendations and value propositions for investors/partners.
- Manage, utilize, and expand professional networks to build and maintain relationships within the water sector to ensure delivering WTCO’s strategic goals.
- Manage relationships with investees by maintaining good communications with investees for risk monitoring and support business development efforts such as follow-on investments, technical advisory service delivery, etc.
- Reach out to any potential local/international investor and collaborate (consortiums, JVs, … etc.) on generating business opportunities in adherence to relevant regulations and bylaws.
- Manage major investment decisions based on mergers & acquisitions opportunities assessments and business cases in line with WTCO strategy.
- Manage in-depth market research and analysis on potential business development opportunities, including financial statements, economic data, market trends, innovation trends, and start-ups directly relating to WTCO’s mandate in.
- Manage the incubated start-ups and entrepreneurs in line with the predefined criteria and based on a valid business case.
- Chair core stakeholders’ meetings for idea prioritization, stage gate, portfolio finalization, pilot approvals, framework/criteria updates, and internal and external resource needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand (operational) drivers, challenges and form strong strategic relationships.
- Review and guide the development of analytical models and tools used to address identified business challenges.
- Follow up on investment implementation, conduct periodic visits based on investors’ classification, and provide aftercare support when needed.
- Regularly evaluate investment performance and compare it to relevant benchmarks to identify areas of strength and weakness and communicate progress to stakeholders.
- Act as a source of all stakeholders’ information and metrics to evaluate investment opportunities and forecast potential returns and risks.
- Ensure participation in events and activities that will help raise WTCO’s profile globally as a major center of innovation and growth for international business investors.
- Keep abreast with the latest changes in the financial market to suggest the best plan for investment attraction and partnership management with minimum risks involved and maximum returns.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or relevant fields
- Preferably a Master’s degree in Business Administration or relevant fields
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
