Job summary

stc is seeking an IoT architecture specialist to provide technical leadership in customer solution design across STC markets. The role emphasizes minimizing operational risks while aligning with STC policies and architecture standards.

The candidate will shape design, testing, and capacity planning across networks, cloud and on-premise resources, ensuring scalable and secure IoT solutions for a telecom environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.
Master's degree in Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.
8-10 years of experience in network design within telecom or technology industries.

Responsibilities

Design, monitor and optimize architecture components for IoT applications and related services.
Coordinate with Enterprise Architecture to align CRs with STC technology strategy.
Identify gaps between current and future states and define transition plans.
Assess and validate technical blueprints against business requirements and constraints.
Support testing programs covering databases, software scenarios and regressions.
Suggest changes to high-level designs to meet business needs.
Provide services design support including networks, VPNs, hosting, OS, databases, and virtualization.
Review existing STC designs to identify improvements and capacity needs.
Deliver periodic capacity forecasts for network, storage, and security.

Job Purpose

The role holder is responsible for providing technical expertise pertaining to customer solution design relating to IoT solutions for deployment across multiple stc markets. Also, they are responsible for advising on operational work processes and mandates to minimise technical and operational risks. The role holder shall carry out his duties in accordance with the stipulated business policies and procedure

Advises in the design, monitoring and optimization of architecture components for IoT applications, service architecture, technology, information elements and technical solutions to ensure compliance with Enterprise Architect framework.
Advises coordination with Enterprise Architecture to ensure Consumer/Enterprise/Functional CRs are aligned with agreed STC technology strategy and roadmap.
Evaluates the gaps between as-is and to-be and defines transition strategies for addressing those gaps.
Assess the technical blueprint design constructed for the solutions that needs to be developed keeping technical capabilities and financial constraints in check.
Supports the development and implementation of testing programs that address areas across the customer design such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability etc.
Suggests appropriate changes to be made in the high level solution design(s) under development to align it accurately with business requirements.
Supports in design and implementation of required services including network designs, VPNs, hosting, operating systems, database systems, servers, virtualization, archiving systems and server consolidation.
Reviews and evaluate existing designs within STC to assess current capability and introduce potential improvements to infrastructure services.
Provides periodical analysis and capacity forecasting for network capacity, application capacity and features, storage and back-up, server consolidation, OS and database services, security infrastructure and enterprise data network.
Structure cloud computing strategy and architecture aligned with the business needs, understanding and evaluating the technologies and vendors needed to deploy the private cloud.
Supports the integration of cloud infrastructure into existing, traditional Applications operations management processes as needed.
Advises appropriate technology, which is compliant with the specification, and is as per STC’s requirements is available, in order to provide competent customer designs for successful testing & implementation
Provides an ‘outside in’ perspective and ensures that a world class system encompassing all Infrastructure & Applications design and engineering practices are adopted, instituted and complied with.
Provides recommendations, remedial actions and measures for course correction on specific complex escalations to avoid any delay or complications
Advises on the formulation of design and engineering initiatives to ensure communication and implementation of the same page.
Analyses reports and metrics, identifying potential issues and undertaking preventive measures to mitigate relevant technical and operational risks and to maintain external awareness of developments in technology, in order to identify relevant projects and tasks for Design and Engineering.
