Job summary

Weatherford in Saudi Arabia is seeking an Applications Engineer - Well Completions to provide advanced technical and applications support for Well Completion Technologies. The role analyzes complex completion designs, hydraulics, NETool simulations, and equipment selection, while serving as a technical link between engineering, operations, field personnel, and customers.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of relevant Well Completions operations / Applications Engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of completion design, wellbore dynamics, hydraulics, tubing movement, Torque & Drag, and tubing stress analysis.
• Experience with NETool or equivalent completion/well modelling software.
• Strong understanding of completion equipment, elastomer, and metallurgy selection.
• Previous experience in customer-facing engineering support preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced calculations including hydraulics, hydrostatics, burst, collapse, tensile, torque, swab & surge, tubing movement, and Torque & Drag.
• Perform and review hydraulic modelling, tubing stress analysis, and NETool simulations.
• Independently develop and review complex well completion designs, schematics, and technical solutions.
• Select appropriate elastomers, metallurgy, and completion equipment based on well conditions and customer requirements.
• Provide technical support during pre-job planning, engineering reviews, field execution, and post-job activities.
• Prepare and support RFQs, quotations, tenders, feasibility studies, and technical proposals.
• Act as a technical interface with internal and external customers.
• Provide technical guidance and escalation support for complex applications and operational challenges.
• Coach and mentor junior Applications Engineers and Field Personnel and support competency development.
• Ensure compliance with Weatherford Quality, HSE, WPTS, and technical procedures.
• Support continuous improvement, lessons learned, RCA/QIR activities, and standardization of engineering practices.
• Ensures application designs are technically robust, operationally feasible, and aligned with Weatherford procedures and product specifications.
• Provides daily technical support to Well Site Field Service Supervisors, Field Engineers, Operations, and Engineering during complex completion operations.
• Conducts knowledge-sharing sessions and promotes standardization of engineering practices.
• Supports the development of standard engineering templates, calculations, workflows, and best practices.
• Available on a 24-hour call basis, when required, to respond to critical customer or operational needs.

The Applications Engineer - Well Completions provides advanced technical and applications engineering support for Well Completion Technologies product lines. The role independently executes and reviews complex completion designs, product selection, engineering calculations, hydraulic modelling, Torque & Drag, tubing movement, tubing stress, and NETool simulations. The position acts as a technical focal point between Engineering, Operations, Technical Sales, Product Lines, Field Operations, and customers, providing fit-for-purpose technical solutions and supporting complex and critical well completion applications. The role also provides technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior Applications Engineers and Field Personnel, while ensuring compliance with Weatherford technical, quality, HSE, and operational standards.
