Job summary

SPIE Global Services Energy in Qatar is seeking a Static Mechanical Engineer to maximize plant reliability, lead turnaround execution, and ensure compliance with international design codes.

You will review design calculations, develop P&IDs, perform stress analyses, manage MOC changes, and oversee repair activities on high‑pressure equipment across petrochemical facilities, with strong English communication and a track record in large capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized, accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience in mechanical engineering within heavy continuous-process chemical plants, petrochemical facilities, or refinery environments.
• Fertilizer industry experience (Ammonia, Urea, or Nitrates) strongly preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Review and approve design calculations, data sheets, drawings, and specs for modifications or new procurement of vessels, exchangers, and tanks.
• Generate and review P&IDs, PMS, and MTOs; develop plot plans and 3D layouts; route critical pipelines.
• Perform piping stress analyses to ensure safe operation under high pressure and temperature.
• Execute plant modifications via MOC with strict safety and design compliance.
• Prepare deliverables for replacement projects including scope of work, TBEs, and vendor reviews.
• Define technical scope for critical static equipment during shutdowns/turnarounds.
• Develop inspection and repair procedures for high‑pressure equipment; supervise field activities and PWHT/NDT per codes.
• Support Fitness-for-Service evaluations and RCA on mechanical failures to drive corrective actions.
