Job summary

SPIE Global Services Energy in Qatar is seeking a Static Mechanical Engineer to provide high-level technical expertise, design validation, and asset integrity management for static equipment and piping in a large petrochemical facility. The role emphasizes reliability, turnaround leadership, and compliance with international design codes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, 5+ years of post-graduate experience in heavy process plants, and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience in mechanical engineering within heavy continuous-process chemical plants, petrochemical facilities, or refinery environments.
• Fluent English communication (written and verbal).
• Experience in the fertilizer industry (Ammonia, Urea, or Nitrates) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve design calculations, data sheets, drawings, and specs for modifications or new procurement of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks.
• Develop and review P&IDs, PMS, and MTOs to meet international standards (ASME, ANSI, API).
• Perform piping stress analysis and ensure systems withstand high pressures, temperatures, and vibrations.
• Manage plant modifications via MOC while ensuring safety and design integrity.
• Define technical scope for turnarounds and outages; supervise on-site repair activities.
