Job summary

NAKILAT is seeking an experienced maritime professional to lead safe and efficient vessel operations across LNG/LPG and crude/oil carriers. You will ensure regulatory compliance, oversee vetting processes, and supervise audits and investigations in coordination with HSSEQ and Technical teams.

The role requires 8–12 years of maritime experience, with at least 3 years as Master on LNG/LPG or crude/oil carriers, and 2+ years in a shore-based/head office role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nautical Science or another relevant discipline; and/or Master Mariner Certificate of Competency.
• 8–12 years of relevant maritime experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as Master onboard LNG/LPG or crude/oil carriers.
• Preferably at least 2 years’ experience in a shore-based/head office management position with a major gas or oil shipping company.
• Experience working effectively with personnel from different cultural and professional backgrounds, including ship owners and ship crews.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vessels are operated safely, reliably and economically, in accordance with company requirements and recognised industry standards.
• Drive compliance with international regulations, Flag State requirements, legal obligations and company policies relating to shipping operations, navigation safety and marine personnel.
• Coordinate and supervise ship vetting activities, including SIRE and CDI inspections, and address observations.
• Conduct vessel inspections and HSSEQ/SHEQ audits in line with SMS and ISM Code.
• Lead investigations into marine incidents and oversee corrective actions with HSSEQ/Technical functions.
• Support voyage planning and vessel performance monitoring to meet charterer expectations.
• Interface with agents, charterers, terminals to provide the Master with berth information and ensure compatibility.
• Participate in ship/shore interface studies and ensure proper information flow to assess berth suitability.
• Ensure compliance with Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan and other efficiency requirements.
