Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical supervision for a major roads, infrastructure and drainage programme in Qatar. You will oversee ground investigations, soil-improvement, and associated testing, ensuring compliance with project standards and safety requirements.

The role requires extensive experience in geotechnical investigations, ground-improvement techniques, and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
• 20+ years post-grad experience, 10+ years in geotechnical/soil-improvement roles.
• Middle East experience required; consultancy supervision of major road/infrastructure projects.
• Experience supervising geotechnical investigations, ground improvement, earthworks, groundwater monitoring and dewatering.
• Experience with deep drainage, microtunnelling shafts, pump stations, attenuation tanks preferred.
• Knowledge of geotechnical investigation methods and interpretation of borehole/CPT data.
• Professional registration or chartered status preferred; MME certification required for deployed personnel; obtain within 6 months.
• Fluent English with strong reporting and communication skills.
• Full computer literacy and project information systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and witness geotechnical construction activities for the Engineer, including ground investigations, boreholes, trials and sampling.
• Review and comment on contractor geotechnical submissions, reports, and method statements.
• Supervise ground-improvement works for sabkha and marine sand; verify bearing capacity and settlement control.
• Review design, trials and execution of ground-improvement techniques.
• Witness CPTU, plate-load, zone-load, CBR and related tests; monitor testing programs.
• Coordinate geotechnical requirements with roads, drainage, structural, utilities and QA teams.
• Raise and track site observations and NC reports; ensure timely closure.
• Maintain inspection records, testing registers and geotechnical documentation.
