Job summary

Newrest is seeking a kitchen assistant to support the hospital catering team with salad preparation and basic mise-en-place. You will work to the schedule, ensuring salads are prepared on time for patients and visitors and presented attractively.

The role focuses on hygiene, food safety and cost-conscious portioning, with daily requisitions and adherence to HSE guidelines. You will maintain grooming standards and assist with equipment safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare variety of salads for patients and visitors at specified times.
• Perform pre-preparation / mise-en-place (wash, clean, cut vegetables, fruits, cheeses) per set menu and cost.
• Ensure quality, quantity and hygienic food with emphasis on presentation; minimize wastage.
• Ensure all equipment and materials are not left in a dangerous state.
• Raise HSE awareness by actively participating in HSE meetings.
• Requisition supplies daily.
• Maintain proper grooming and hygiene

Job description

• To be responsible in the preparation variety of salads to be served to the patients and visitors at the hospital at specified times.
• To ensure timely pre-preparation / mis-en-place (wash, clean, cut vegetables, fruits, Cheeses) as per set menu and within the set cost.
• To ensure quality, quantity and hygienic food is served with particular emphasis on presentation. To try and ensure minimum / no wastage (excess food balance).
• To ensure that all equipment and materials are not left in a dangerous state.
• To raise HSE/Hazard awareness by actively participating in all HSE meetings.
