Job description

Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed NDI inspection activities on Aircraft Ground Support Equipment components, ensuring work complies with the work package, approved technical information, and approved data.
• Perform and complete tasked maintenance and diagnostic activities in Non‑Destructive Inspection testing, which may include component inspections.
• Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude, taking direction appropriately and ensuring staff are competent and approved for the tasks allocated to them.
• Maintain personal & team task authorisation for working on aircraft or components in accordance with AMC and QAF requirements.
• Meet agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through supervision of others, reporting progress to management, and providing guidance and leadership to the team.
• Develop team members using formal assessment processes such as performance reviews, support and sponsor training requests—including on‑the‑job training—and sign other personnel’s logbooks as appropriate within trade and skill boundaries.
• Act as an approved designated assessor to undertake authorisation and task competency approvals and to check Pt145 licence application packs prior to submission.
• Perform support tasks within the NDI Bay facility required to maintain compliance with MOE and QAF procedures, including oversight checks and control of tooling/testing equipment.
• Conduct fault evaluation and raise ad‑hoc work cards for identified faults during maintenance.
• Effectively manage regulatory activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress, and developing performance‑improvement programmes.
• Prioritise activities across teams to maximise efficiency and assess escalated issues for any impact on continuing airworthiness, generating effective resolutions or escalating to management.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are appropriately documented, with airworthiness records maintained on relevant systems (IT or paper based). Compile required reporting and identify or escalte issues as appropriate.
• Comply with regulatory frameworks, associated procedures, standards, and company procedures. Identify and propose changes where necessary.
• Promote the application of human factors, error management, risk management and safety assurance within the Part145 team and support proactive hazard analysis, mitigation and management.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with QAF governance and Assurance framework, including supporting Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits, and aid the response to audit findings.

Qualifications

• NDI EN4179/NAS410 Level2 qualifications on Penetrant Flaw Detection (PT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT), Eddy Current Inspection (ET), Ultrasonic Inspection (UT), and Radiographic Inspection (RT), with required experience hours for each discipline.
• Broad and in‑depth product knowledge/competency within own technical/subject area and understanding of team integration for overall objectives and continuous improvement.
• Experienced and competent leader at this level.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures Management training.
• Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
• Knowledge of and compliance with risk assessments, SHE policies and procedures.
• Completion of Human Factors – Standard Course Specification.
• Completion of E‑PW Awareness – Standard Course Specification.
• Completion of ITAR Awareness – Standard Course Specification.
• IT literate.
• UK driving licence.
• Compliance with statutory, regulatory, legislative and contractual requirements (e.g., ITAR, EaPW, ISO, contractual).
