Job Description

The postholder will report to the Avionics Senior Supervisor and be an experienced andskilled avionic technician and supervisor, undertaking a range of detailedmaintenance activities on aircraft or on aircraft components.

The post holderrequires an excellent understanding of the Typhoon approved data set and iscompetent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions inaccordance with the organisation’s regulatory framework.

Demonstrates adistinct ability to analyze and diagnose faults to equipment and assemblies,follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively within a team. Provideguidance to less experienced team members in a diverse and dynamic operationalenvironment.

Core Activity :

  • Undertaking detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision activitieson the Typhoon aircraft or aircraft components. Assuring work carried out hasbeen completed in accordance with the tasking / Work package using the relevantapproved technical information. Resolving faults and maintenance issues,including configuration management
  • Maintaining a personal Log Book to demonstratecurrency and recency, on completion of On the Job training (OJT) activities,sign other personnel’sLog Books as appropriate within your trade andskills boundaries. If you are an approved designated assessor, undertakeauthorisation and task competency approvals, and check Pt 145 licenseapplication packs prior to submission
  • Undertaking and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activitieson an aircraft or components which may include, as appropriate, aircraft groundhandling, flight servicing, aircraft role changes, component removals,inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and/orfunctional/system test
  • Supervising team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule andhighlight any issues, elevate as required. Report on any impact to the widerprogramme
  • Demonstrating a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying outresponsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately
  • Ensuring staff are sufficiently competent and approved for themaintenance tasks allocated to them
  • Maintaining personal & teams task authorisation for working onaircraft or components in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to mediumterm through the supervision of others
  • Undertaking support tasks within the aircraft or component maintenancefacility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team. Develops team members usingformal assessment processes. Demonstrates sound and comprehensive communicationand people management skills in order to exchange complicated information
  • Undertaking faultevaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for ‘found faults’ during maintenance
Key Accountabilities:
  • Performance indicators – Ensure the effective management ofPart 145 activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress anddeveloping performance improvement programs. Prioritises activitieswithin/across teams to maximise efficiency. Responsible for the assessment ofescalated issues for any impact on Continuing Airworthiness and generatingeffective resolution, or sponsoring escalation to management, as appropriate
  • Completion of activities – Ensure all Part 145 activities areappropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevantsystems (IT/paper based). Ensure suitably qualified, experienced and authorisedpersonnel perform all Part 145 activities. Ensure the integration of Part145 activity within the business, including the engagement of keystakeholders at all stages of the process. Provide support and guidance to theteam
  • Procedure/standards – Manage the Part 145 team(s)compliance with the Part 145 Exposition, its associated procedures andstandards, and any other Company procedures and standards, as applicable.Identify, propose and implement change as required, whilst ensuring compliance
  • Safety Management System – Promote the application of humanfactors, error management, risk management and safety assurance within the Part145 team, together with the proactive analysis, mitigation and management ofhazards
  • Management System Assurance – Ensure Part 145 team activities arecompliant with the governance and assurance framework. Ensure process confirmationsand independent assurance audits are supported by Part 145 personnel and integratedwithin/across teams. Manage the response to audit findings in a timely andappropriate manner and provide information into the relevant reviews. Generateand implement effective improvements within/across teams to overcome anynon-compliance and monitor effectiveness
  • Statutory/Regulatory & Legislativerequirements – Able to demonstrate a good understanding andapplication of the relevant continuing airworthiness regulatory framework, andensure any regulatory driven changes are implemented within the Part 145 team(s)activities. Ensure compliance with all other requirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW,ISO, etc.
  • Contractual Requirement – Ensure compliancewith all applicable contractual requirements, e.g. through support to contractreviews, and ensure any changes are implemented into the Part 145 activities
Requirements
  • Typhoon Avionic Trade ‘Q’ Course
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally inAeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship /qualifications. Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City &Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.Aircraft platform training (On a/c requirement)
  • Requires a broad and in-depth product knowledge/competency withinown technical/subject area. Awareness of how the team integrates with others inorder to achieve the overall objectives of the area and demonstrates anunderstanding of the requirement for continuous improvement and its application
  • Experienced and competent leader at this level.Requires a minimum of 2 years working atSupervisor level prior to undertaking a Senior role. Demonstrating breadth ofexperience, currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills, knowledgeand authorities for working on Aircraft type or in bays. Practical experienceand expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safeoperating practices. A comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and FunctionallyMandated Procedures Management training.PDR training / experience
  • Experienced and competent in Maintenix system (IMS) andEurofighter support system (ESS)
