Job Description

The postholder will report to the Avionics Junior Supervisor and be an experienced andskilled avionic technician and supervisor, undertaking a range of detailedmaintenance activities on aircraft or on aircraft components.

The postholder requires an excellent understanding of the Typhoon approved data set andis competent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions inaccordance with the organisation’s regulatory framework.

Demonstrates a distinct ability to analyse and diagnose faults toequipment and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectivelywithin a team. Provide guidance to less experienced team members in a diverseand dynamic operational environment.

Core Activity:

  • Undertaking detailedmaintenance, inspection activities on the air electric bay components. Assuringwork undertaken is completed in accordance with the work package, using the relevant approved technical information. Resolving faults and maintenance issues,including an awareness of configuration management
  • Undertaking and completetasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on electric components, whichmay include, as appropriate, component removals, inspections, repairs,modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and / or functional / systemtest
  • Demonstrate a flexibleand proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the roleand takes direction appropriately
  • Maintaining a personaltask authorisation for working on components in accordance with QAFrequirements
  • Progress reportingagainst delivery targets to supervisor
  • Undertaking support taskswithin the Air Electric Bay facility which are required to maintain compliancewith the MOE and QAF procedures (e.g. oversight checks, control of tooling /test equipment)
  • Undertaking faultevaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for ‘found faults’ during maintenance
  • Ensuring all Maintenanceactivities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records aremaintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Compile required reporting,identify any issues and elevate as appropriate
  • Maintaining a personalLog Book to demonstrate currency and recency, on completion of On the Jobtraining (OJT) activities, sign other personnel’slogbooks as appropriatewithin your trade and skills boundaries. If you are an approved designated assessor,undertake authorisation and task competency approvals, and check Pt 145 licenseapplication packs prior to submission
Key Accountabilities
  • Performanceindicators – Leading by example to provide effectivemaintenance activities by meeting delivery targets, monitoring progress andreporting any impact on continuing airworthiness. Identify any issues andescalate as appropriate. Understand how the teams and own actions contribute tooverall delivery performance and safety
  • Procedure/standards –Comply with the regulatory framework, its associated procedures and standards,and any other company procedures and standards. Identify and propose change as required as applicable
  • SafetyManagement System – Ensure human factors and error managementphilosophies are applied to all maintenance activities. Understand the risksassociated with maintenance activities and the means by which they aremitigated and managed
  • ContinuingAirworthiness Assurance (Quality) – Ensure maintenance activities arecompliant with the continuing airworthiness assurance management system, inconjunction with the MOE
  • Statutory/Regulatory& Legislative requirements – Able to demonstrate an appropriatelevel of understanding and application of the relevant continuing airworthinessregulatory framework. Support the implementation of any regulatory drivenchanges into the maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all otherrequirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW, ISO
  • ContractualRequirements –Comply with all applicable contractual requirements
Requirements
  • Typhoon Avionic Trade ‘Q’ Course
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally inAeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship /qualifications. Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City &Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.Aircraft platform training (On a/c requirement)
  • Requires a broad and in-depth product knowledge/competency withinown technical/subject area. Awareness of how the team integrates with others inorder to achieve the overall objectives of the area and demonstrates anunderstanding of the requirement for continuous improvement and its application
  • Experienced and competent leader at this level. Requires a minimum of 2 years working atSupervisor level prior to undertaking a Senior role. Demonstrating breadth ofexperience, currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills, knowledgeand authorities for working on Aircraft type or in bays. Practical experienceand expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safeoperating practices. A comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and FunctionallyMandated Procedures Management training. PDR training / experience
  • Experienced and competent in Maintenix system (IMS) andEurofighter support system (ESS)
