Job summary

Madre Integrated Engineering in Doha is seeking a skilled Machinist for the Central Repair Shop – Machining. The role requires operating conventional lathes, milling, drilling, boring, grinding, and shaping machines to manufacture, repair, and recondition mechanical components according to drawings.

You will read engineering drawings, set up machines, measure with micrometers and calipers, inspect materials, ensure safety, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or ITI in Machining or Tool & Die Making.
• Minimum 3 years of machining experience in steel/heavy industry.
• Proficient with conventional lathe, milling, drilling, boring and grinding.
• Ability to read drawings, tolerances and surface finish requirements.
• Capable using precision measuring tools and inspection instruments.
• Strong mathematical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Machinist-Engineering & CWS – Central Repair Shop – Machining

• Operate conventional lathes, milling, drilling, boring, grinding, and shaping machines.
  
• Manufacture, repair, and recondition mechanical components according to drawings and specifications.
  
• Machine shafts, bushes, sleeves, pins, rollers, flanges, threads, keyways, and similar components.
  
• Set up machines, cutting tools, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.
  
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, job cards, tolerances, and material specifications.
  
• Measure completed components using micrometers, vernier callipers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
  
• Inspect raw materials and components before and after machining.
  
• Perform turning, facing, threading, tapering, boring, drilling, reaming, and surface-finishing activities.
  
• Identify dimensional defects and carry out necessary corrections or rework.
  
• Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of machines, tools, and accessories.
  
• Maintain machining records and report equipment defects or material shortages.
  
• Follow safety procedures while handling machines, cutting tools, lifting equipment, and materials.
  
• Maintain proper housekeeping and cleanliness within the machining workshop.
  

Requirements

• Technical Diploma, ITI, or recognized trade certificate in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or Tool and Die Making.
  
• Minimum 3 years of relevant machining experience in a steel plant, manufacturing facility, machine shop, or heavy industry.
  
• Practical experience operating conventional lathe, milling, drilling, boring, and grinding machines.
  
• Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, materials, tolerances, fits, feeds, and speeds.
  
• Ability to read engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and surface-finish requirements.
  
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
  
• Experience machining shafts, bushes, sleeves, rollers, pins, threads, and keyways.
  
• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance, lubrication, tool setting, and equipment inspection.
  
• Good mathematical, technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  
• Knowledge of workshop safety, machine guarding, PPE, lifting, and housekeeping procedures.
  
• Physically fit and capable of working in a heavy industrial workshop environment.
  
• Ability to communicate in English and work independently or as part of a team.
