Job summary

Madre Integrated Engineering in Qatar is seeking a skilled operator for a full-time role in a steel-making plant. You will operate and monitor billet handling equipment, CCM, and HMI systems, ensuring procedures are followed and quality is maintained.

The ideal candidate has a technical diploma or higher secondary education and at least 3 years of hands-on CCM experience, with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work safely in challenging environments.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or higher secondary education from a recognized college.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a steel making plant and CCM operations.
• Strong practical knowledge of CCM, billet handling systems, cooling beds, transfer cars, and TCM/cutting systems.
• Good understanding of steel-making processes, plant/process specifications, operating parameters, and billet quality requirements.
• Experience operating control desks and HMI systems; basic computer and math skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities; able to work safely under heat, dust, heights, and gases.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor billet handling equipment per SOPs.
• Prepare the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) during sequence breaks, including crop bucket dumping and nozzle cleaning.
• Respond to abnormalities and troubleshoot issues to support timely rectification.
• Inspect billets for defects and ensure correct quantity, quality, marking, and traceability.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, minor repairs, and coordinate with maintenance during shutdowns.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality procedures during shift handovers.

Madre Integrated Engineering | Full time

• Operate and monitor billet handling equipment , including TCM, billet cross-transfer cars, turnover cooling beds, control desks, and HMI systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  
• Prepare the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) during sequence breaks, including crop bucket dumping and checking/cleaning TCM nozzles to ensure readiness for the next casting sequence.
  
• Respond to operational abnormalities such as TCM cutting failures, transfer car trips, cooling-bed hydraulic misalignment, and withdrawal-unit motor faults , supporting timely troubleshooting and rectification.
  
• Inspect produced billets for physical and surface defects , ensuring correct billet quantity, quality, marking, and traceability for each heat.
  
• Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, adjustments, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance; coordinate with maintenance teams during planned shutdowns and equipment overhauls.
  
• Maintain strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality procedures , while ensuring proper communication of equipment and process conditions during shift handovers.
  

Requirements

• Technical Diploma or Higher Secondary Education from a recognized college/institution.
  
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a Steel Making Plant and Continuous Casting Process operations in the same or similar job profile — mandatory .
  
• Strong practical knowledge of Continuous Casting Machines (CCM), billet handling systems, cooling beds, transfer cars, TCM/cutting systems, and associated equipment .
  
• Good understanding of steel-making processes, plant/process specifications, operating parameters, process calculations, and billet quality requirements .
  
• Experience operating control desks and HMI systems , along with basic computer and mathematical skills.
  
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities , with good written and spoken English and the ability to work safely under pressure in environments involving heat, dust, heights, and gases .
