Job summary

PTD-Power Transmission & Distribution - IC in Qatar seeks an Electrical Construction Manager – Substation to lead substation works on an Oil & Gas Project. The role emphasizes HV systems, GIS/AIS, and strict HSE adherence, with close coordination across civil, mechanical, E&I, telecom, and MEP teams.

The candidate should have a minimum of 15 years in electrical construction within oil & gas, strong leadership and planning skills, and a track record of delivering complex interfaces on brownfield

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical construction, with significant exposure to oil & gas projects.
• Proven experience in substation construction (GIS/AIS) and high-voltage systems.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems integration within industrial projects.
• Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA) and utility requirements.
• Experience in brownfield projects and live plant interface management is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple contractors and complex site activities.
• Proficient in project planning, reporting, and coordination tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all electrical construction activities related to substation works (GIS/AIS, transformers, cables, protection systems).
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage equipment (132 kV / 220 kV as applicable).
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure smooth execution.
• Manage interfaces across disciplines (civil, mechanical, E&I, telecom, and MEP systems).
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
• Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and site teams to maintain productivity and quality.
• Monitor construction progress against schedule and implement recovery plans where required.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies and promote a strong safety culture at site.
• Review and approve method statements, ITPs, RFIs, and technical queries.
• Coordinate with client, consultants, and stakeholders for inspections and approvals.
• Manage site logistics, material handling, and preservation of electrical equipment.
• Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities including energization readiness.
• Identify risks, resolve technical issues, and provide practical site solutions.
