Job summary

QatarEnergy seeks a Discipline Lead and Technical Authority (TA2) to guide a team of discipline engineers on a major project. You will lead and manage the contractor's work, review critical deliverables, and ensure safety, schedule and cost objectives are met.

This role requires extensive experience in oil & gas projects, proficiency in instrumentation and control, and strong leadership and communication skills to manage stakeholders and drive project success.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status or postgraduate qualification preferred.
• 20+ years postgraduate experience; 10+ years in Oil & Gas with leadership roles.
• TA2 designation equivalent or eligible.
• Experience with turbomachinery control systems, DCS, SCADA, safety systems (ESD & FGS) and gas compressor anti-surge control.
• Knowledge of engineering software and cyber security practices.
• International Operating Companies (IOCs) and EPC contractor exposure.

Responsibilities

Job description

Primary Purpose of the Job

Function as Discipline Lead and Technical Authority (TA2), providing technical leadership and guidance to a team of discipline engineers on Project. Lead and manage the CONTRACTOR's work and team for the successful execution of the Project and to achieve the required technical quality and integrity of work while considering project objectives in terms of safety, time and cost. Review and approve deliverables.

Required Experience and Skills

1. Chartered Engineer status or post graduate qualification in specialized engineering discipline, is preferred.
2. 20 Years relevant post graduate experience, out of which 10 years in Oil & Gas industry with five years of proven leadership roles.
3. Shell Technical Authority Level 2 (TA2), Equivalent, or eligible to receive TA2 designation (upon passing the interview)
4. Good experience and knowledge in turbomachinery control systems, DCS, SCADA, safety systems (ESD & FGS) and gas compressors anti-surge control system.
5. Good knowledge on computer software and familiar with cyber security.
6. Employment History to include International Operating Companies (IOCs) and EPC Contractors.
7. Experienced in Concept/ Feasibility, FEED and EPIC Oil & Gas Projects.
8. Experienced in Refinery Projects, and with Process Licensors (e.g. UOP).
9. Proficiency / knowledge of International Standards, Shell DEPs in area of Instrumentation and Control.
10. Proficiency / knowledge of QatarEnergy Standards, Procedures and Guidelines is preferred.
11. Demonstrated experience in managing discipline planning, resource allocation, and execution to meet project timelines and budgets.
12. Strong understanding of project management (Certifications such as PMP is desired).
13. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a focus on effective project execution and stakeholder management.
14. Strong problem-solving and decision‑making abilities.
15. Ability to identify engineering risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure project success.
