Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver Instrumentation & Control engineering activities across all project phases.
• Conduct in-house site surveys and technical assessments.
• Review and approve I&C engineering designs and technical deliverables.
• Ensure technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental requirements, and HSE policies are embedded in all I&C work scopes.
• Review and assess technical deviations, variations, and changes to approved codes, standards, and engineering practices.
• Support the review, development, and application of internal engineering standards and amendments to international standards.
• Plan and coordinate activities of multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of services.
• Develop and review clear, comprehensive multi-disciplinary work scopes for projects and studies.
• Monitor and manage engineering schedules for in-house activities and FEED/EPIC contractor schedules.
• Review and approve method statements by contractors to ensure compliance with scopes and standards.
• Liaise with contractors and external organisations to resolve technical and interface issues.
• Participate in technical bid evaluations to confirm scope compliance and technical adequacy.

About the Role

Ably Resources is supporting a leading energy organisation in Qatar in the recruitment of a Senior Instrument & Control Engineerto join its Engineering Services function.

This is a senior technical role responsible for providing Instrumentation & Control (I&C) engineering design and technical assuranceacross a wide range of capital and operational projects. The role spans the full project lifecycle, from early concept and FEED through to detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.

The successful candidate will ensure that all I&C engineering activities meet company engineering standards, international codes, and HSE requirements, while balancing technical quality, schedule, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Instrumentation & Control engineering activities across all project phases, including concept definition, studies, FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
• Conduct in-house site surveys and technical assessments to support project development and execution.
• Prepare, review, and approve I&C engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables.

Technical Assurance & Standards Compliance

• Ensure technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental requirements, and HSE policies are fully embedded in all I&C work scopes.
• Review and assess technical deviations, variations, and changes to approved codes, standards, and engineering practices.
• Support the review, development, and application of internal engineering standards and amendments to international standards.

Project Coordination & Delivery

• Plan and coordinate the activities of multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of engineering services.
• Develop and review clear, comprehensive multi-disciplinary work scopes for projects and engineering studies.
• Monitor and manage engineering schedules for in-house activities and contribute to FEED and EPIC contractor schedules.

Contractor & Stakeholder Interface

• Review and approve method statements prepared by contractors to ensure compliance with approved scopes and standards.
• Liaise with contractors and external organisations to resolve technical and interface issues.
• Participate in technical bid evaluations to confirm scope compliance and technical adequacy.

Change Management & Support

• Review and evaluate contract changes and variations to approved guidelines and practices.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning to resolve instrumentation and control-related issues.
• Support the ongoing development of technical competency within the engineering team and contribute to structured training initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Electronics Engineeringor Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status (or working towards) is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years’ post-graduate experience, with at least 6 years in the Oil & Gas or Energy industry.
• Proven experience delivering I&C engineering across multiple project phases in a multi-project environment.
• Strong background in the design, review, and approval of instrumentation and control systems.

Technical Skills

• Solid knowledge of instrumentation and control engineering standards and international codes.
• Experience managing technical quality, cost, and schedule within complex engineering projects.
• Ability to assess and approve technical deliverables produced by internal teams and external contractors.
